The Show will go on.
The Question is; what is it going to be like to fly into LaGuardia.
It was a nightmare before. I have flown out of the 8 times in the last 4 years. Seven of those times I sat on the runway so long I missed my connecting flight in Atlanta.
You want to stay at the show as long as you can. But the airlines want you there at least 2 hours a head of time. They will be overcautious with NY airspace. It could be a 4 hour job getting out of NY. That doesn't include the flying time home.
My experience has taught me that when you fly out of NY. You take an early flight. So when the screw up, as they always do. You have a shot at two or more later flights at your connection airport.
That means I am going to have to leave at noon on Sunday, if not earlier.
So, the show will go on. However, I suspect at least this year, there will be fewer collectors flying in (especially with Phil Lobreds show in San Diego just two weeks before). Those who fly in will probably have to leave early on Sunday. And some of makers and dealers just may not come.
The other thing will be to see how the NY Airports react to knives in the luggage. For some of the makers with just two or three knives it won't be a big deal. Imagine the look on the inspectors face when they open my luggage.
Im flying to the SOS Show next Thursday out of Atlanta, so I will get a better gauge of what is going on.
The good news the air fare to NY is the lowest it has been in years, $150 from Augusta. Same price as from Atlanta. Last year it was $265 to fly from Augusta to NYC.
