Hi guys..I've been lurking here a while and have picked up some great info but I do need some advice.
I have had a 3.5" folder on my belt on and off for several years, a real cheap product marketed by Stihl. It's time to upgrade to a better blade and one that will lock. The knife will be a daily companion at work and when out and about.
I am on a bugget so have limited my self to about $5o..$60
and have come up with these two..
Please give your thoughts on these knives(I'm undecided on which one to buy)or am I way off in my choice's.
Thanks in advance..kj

German made Boker 90 Gemini knife. 3-3/8" Solingen stainless steel blade.

Benchmade 813S. Blade is 3.16" and partially serrated. The “Tactical Safety Equipment Knife” designs incorporates the proven handle performance of the AFCK (so they say)Blades are ground of GIN-1 stainless steel

Those are good choices. Is the Boker made from X15TN steel? If so buy it if not get the Benchmade. There are other makers to consider like Cold Steel Voyagers, several models from CRKT and Kershaw.

Hi King Grinch....yup,it seems the Boker is made from x15 stainless.
Thanks for your input..I'll check out Kershaw's site and see what they offer.

Of those two I would go benchmade, no hesitation. However, you need to get what makes you happy. Also, you might want to check the for sale forums here. Sometimes you can get a great deal on a used but perfectly functional knife. Also check Ebay and other online auctions as well as online retailers.

you can get a mini afck for under $50 at a few places on the net right now. Hunt away, I will do some research here cause I saw it on a link just yesterday.

I would recommend the CRKT M16 series. The M16-04 was my first quality folder. It will stand up to hard use and is my favorite out of all the CRKT knives.

PS: I have heard that the Boker Gemini isn't well known for lock strength.

If you are looking for a hard use work knife, check out the Spyderco Endura or Delica(has a smaller blade).
They are real workhorses!

I'll give a BIG second to the Spyderco sugestion! Easy opening with VG-10 steel, how can you go wrong? An Endura was my first really good knife and it went strong for about 10 years until some rat-bastid stole it from me  Hell, it's probably still going strong! ;)

take a look at the banchmade 555 has a 3 inch blade made of 440c and axis lock. I own one great knife you can get one at http://www.knifeoutlet.com]knifeoutlet[/URL] for $60.00 dallors this knife is worth ever penny. so take a look .

You might want to consider the CRKT M16, I picked one up and liked it so much i've got a M18 on order, The Carson flipper makes opening it REALLY fast, Plus my M16 seems to be able to take all the abuse im giving it.

My vote goes to the Camillus EDC, Spyderco Delica, or BM Griptillian. All at or under 60 bucks. I haven't handled the Griptillian, but it's gotten great reviews. For a bit smaller, I'd get a Kershaw Scallion. 30 bucks!

Out of the two you've picked, I'd go for the Boker. The gemini is the same as my infinity only with steel instead of ceramic blade. Mine was absolutely fantastic out of the box.

I think Mr Work may be right again. If you can get the Camillus EDC with a 154CM blade in your price range, it would be your best choice.

Of the two that you have picked, I would get the Benchmade.

I would also recommend that you check out the Benchmade 550 and 555 Griptillians. These are some of the best feeling and slickest knives that I have played with in quite a while, and they should be right in your price range.

Camillus has recently upgraded the EDC to 154CM steel for the same price as it used to charge for the 420 version. You can't lose.
