Greetings,

Just purchased a Benchmade model 42 and need advise on the various methods of opening these style of knifes. I got hooked on the idea after watching a video by Michael D. Janich.

Thanks for any assistance/advise

Welcome to the Forums..., and Happy Thanksgiving -almost- :)

A good (no great) place to look...is :

No need for explanation, just check it out!

You will also want to keep up to date with all that goes on in "Bali-Dom" by regular visits to Chuck Gollnicks site:

http://www.BalisongCollector.com

Hope you enjoy your new knife..., it's a nice one!! ;)

Balisong.com is also a good one. Sorry, don't know how to do links yet.Kinda new to this. Happy flippin'

as a start i would really recommend clay's site. that's where i learned all my stuff (almost, at least) when i first began. when you get better, you can check out the moves at balisong.com (because after you get to know some tricks, you're capable of recognize them easier, and understand how they're done (cause you see resemblemses) - and since the balisong.com videos just are the to 'impress', it's better to start out at balisongxtreme, since it has step-by-step manipulations).

good luck with the flipping!

Well, as always, it looks like you've already gotten the best answers. So let me just say welcome to the Balisong Forum! Within the minds of the members here, rest every bit of possible knowledge on the subject. And if we don't know, we'll find out!

One more thing... You'll thank yourself for reading the essays on Gollnick's site, and the tips section on Clay's site. Lots of very useful things to know about safety, not developing bad habits and helping yourself learn faster. Have fun flippin' Kevin!
