I have been throwing pretty seriously for about 2 years. I tried most of current production inexpensive knives. Some of the hibben's are pretty nice, but the tend to be small, and the one set of large ones were made of such poor steel that one snapped in half. The ones I throw the most are a set of 12" Colt's with rubber grips, and a set of Cold Steel 12" with cord wrapped handles. I dont like the Cold Steel 14" throwers cause the grip is not to my taste, and the metal is so soft it gets dinged up and then can cut your hand. This week I finally decided to upgrade and ordered a set of Branton's #17's, and a set from H&S Forge. Both are 13-14" with solid handles, both things I decided I want in a thrower.
By the way, I had very poor results until reading up on the matter. I found a good deal of info online, specifically at http://www.knifethrowing.info/, and then ordered a couple of books online. I got Hibben's book, and McEvoy's book from Amazon. Both were kinda skimpy, but offered some unique ideas which were helpful.
Anyway, I can't wait to get some the new throwers and will post my thoughts on them, for what its worth.
