Newt Livesay/Wicked Knives 'Little Pecker' Impressions

OK,

Maybe I should give some more details, huh?

This knife has the minimum handle necessary to control the blade. But still plenty of handle.

The ergos are good, I naturally want to put it into saber. I love the high spine, lots of belly, with good tip shape. That shape is my favorite shape.

The Kydex sheath holds it securely.

It is perfect as a "I don't care what happens to it" kind of blade.

My only concern is the tip, pretty thick. But I am going to talk to Newt about that tomorrow. And for most people a thick tip is good.

This knife perfectly compliments my Sebenza, it reminds me that I spent far too much for my Sebenza, while spending exactly what I had to. The Little Pecker is the Sebenza of the fixed blade market. Perfect in every way for what it is.

I HAD a LP...gave it away to my little sister when she moved to Texas. Probably around her neck right now. Loved that little knife

Hmmm...maybe I need another one for me

One more comment:
I get an impression that the LP is considered primarily a last-ditch defensive knife. But recently I had a chance to use it as a utility knife, and I was surprized at how well it did for a blade this small! I cut up some meet for barbique, and vegetables, and cleaned several pike and bas I cought, plus did some minor wood carving. Well, some of it would be more comfortable with a good kitchen knife, but for a concealable blade under 3" - this is a lot of utility potential!
BTW, the only "modification" I did to my LP was to wrap the handle in epoxy-soaked lace, and to sharpen the blade more to my liking.

Alex.

I ordered a L.P.
I plan on using it for a utility knife mostly.
for survival skills like whittleing traps(not that I trap but like to practice my skills for emergency's) and small blade stuff.I think it should work great for that.
do you guys think I should cord wrap the handle?

Cord wrap would make the handle a bit cushier, but would also bulk it up.

The cool thing about a cord wrap is you can do it whenever you want, just have some cord laying around...

Did some modifications to my Rifleman's Hawk today with my Little Pecker, very nice, did the job well.

I plan on modifying the sheath and adding a cord wrap.
