Next Batch of Bushcrafts?

Dan,
I have looked your site over pretty thoroughly and have been through everything here that I can find - even went back many pages (very enoyable reading and pics) trying to get a feel for when the Bushcraft will be done again. I thought I might be able to get an idea but haven't.

Is this something you have any idea of or do "batches" come up when you hit a number of pre-orders that economies of scale make it practical?

I HATE to pester a fellow with this particular question after placing an order but all these reviews and pics are starting to drive me nuts. Not hurrying you - just trying to get a feel for how I must "pace myself."

Thanks.

I have a rather large batch 'in the works' right now...almost ready to send for heat-treat. I just added 10 more D2 bushcraft blades to the stack...I'm now at almost 100. ;)

I am expecting start rolling these off the presses in 8 weeks...and a few more for me to finally have them finished.

If you want, you can place an order. Otherwise you're welcome to hang around and see what pops up when they're done.

My preference is to send all my air-hardening steel of to Paul Bos at once...rather than in short packages - I get a much better discount that way.

So, that's the bottleneck in my process right now...

I'll keep you guys posted though!

Dan,
I placed an order and sent a deposit via Pay-Pal ("Bushcraft JH" on the order tracker). That's a heck of a batch of knives but I can see why it is so popular. I will live with that "bottleneck." By the amazing price on this knife, it's obvious you are watching those things so, great knife, great price - no argument and no complaint from me.

If I order another one, say tomorrow, would it make it into this batch or do you run exactly what is pre-ordered?

Thanks!

I am about 40% over pre-orders....plenty of room for more. :D

I'm doin' it! I ordered Natural Canvas Micarta but, every time I see the Green canvas ones, I get weak in the knees.

Thanks, Dan.

You too, huh? I'll have one of each as well, the green micarta on order with Dan and a natural I was able to pick up from a forum member. Unfortunately one is promised to my bro as a b-day gift. :( Oh well, I should be seeing Dan at the Blade show, sounds like there will be plenty more!

Thanks, guys!

More work for me!

Yay!!!

:D

No, seriously...I'm :D :D :D

they are all the regular bushcraft design...but I made an improvement to the handle to allow for larger (wider) hands. ;)

I don't have any immediate plans to start the Bush-Master run....soon, perhaps...but I want to see it through testing first.

Dan,
What exactly did you do to the handle to improve it? Thinking about placing an order for one and would like to know what the difference is.

Yeah I have an order pending. I really like the current one hope it's not too difft.

I am curious too. Hollowdweller (with his excellent pics and review) is responsible for me placing my first order. Saw another review with pics on Backyard Bushcraft and am in love with the shape of this knife.

It's a very minor change to the design...and won't adversely affect anyone with smaller hands.

I should have caught this sooner, actually....because it will make finishing the tang easier...as this was a hard spot to get right. (doh!)

Anyway...here's a pic:

Basically...I straightened out the curve where the pinky finger "sits". What that does is make the "usable space" under the handle longer....better for wider hands. (the 2 arrows show the difference...) Doesn't seem like much...but when I did one and offered it to someone with larger hands...they could immediately tell the difference...yet it feels almost exactly the same to me.

Make sense?

I would never have noticed. Subtleties.
I actually did the same to a knife I bought from someone else a while back but I only noticed it through using the knife. Made a big difference too.
