Found this nice Jigged Buffalo / Cherrywood 501 at the GS today. I think this knife was a Cabelas offering. Date code is 2007. I inquired as to the price and asked if there was a box/sheath to go with it. He said he didn't have the original box but had another Buck box & sheath he thought it would fit in. I paid the asking price. First bonus.... he handed me $10 back. Perhaps I didn't hear correctly....old man ears. Second bonus...he came up with this 110 box and sheath for it. This has to be a very early 110 sheath and I'm hopeful one of you can tell me what variation 110 went with it. It is in nearly mint condition, has no rivits, and no tooling. The only "Buck" mark is the snap. It is not marked on the back with "110" (I looked under the belt loop also). The paperwork in the box has a 5688 Federal Blvd, San Diego address on it. Some days it pays to get out of bed.... ;o) Oh, and the knife is much prettier in the hand than in the picture.

DeSoto, All your findings are great to have stumbled on to. I think you meant to type '6588' Federal Blvd.. Buck moved into that location in 1964 about mid. Then in Sept. 1969 moved to El Cajon. So the box would have to be during those years. The sheath may be during the same time frame as the box. If so it would have to be late in those years as I don't recall when Buck started stamping the snap. Plus, those papers could have carried over into 1970. Still, a grand find. DM

Gosh, that sheath must be mid-sixties.

I wouldn't sell box and sheath too quickly. They should be carefully appraised for potential value.

Great find, congrats.

Oh yeah! Good score! The 501 is great, and the box & sheath are super hard to find in that condition. Looks like around a 2 nd or 3rd version 110, Buck was at 1717 North Magnolia Ave around 1970, and had had a 44 month lease at 3220 Congress St from sometime in 1961 through December 1964. I just pulled that from Tom Ables book The Story of Buck Knives at a quick glance, so I could be wrong

Selling it never crossed my mind....I want to find a knife for it!!! I started out collecting mostly slippies and never paid much attention to the 110's but as I learn more I'm developing a greater appreciation for them.

I just finished reading Houser's 110 data sheet. Looks like it would be a sheath for a mid 60's 1 liner. This sheath style was listed as type A. The date range overlaps with the address on the paperwork so probably closer to the 67 than 62.

A. Angeles Souvenir—late 1962 to late 1967. Thin leather, BUCK on snap, no rivets, no model number.

I just wanted to caution you.

Sometimes the e-mails can start to fly on an item like that.

Yes, find a good knife to match and you have a package where the parts will enhance the desirability of the whole.

Scott, Then something is amiss as long time member Patrick Donovan gave different factory dates in his article from the Sept. 2006 issue. ? DM

This is the three early styles of 110 sheaths that I have been able to accuire so far.

This is the knife that came with the sheath like the one you have.

Hope this helps, I also know that this knife could have come in that style of sheath also, according to Joe's notes if I am reading them right.

Good luck in looking for one. HL

I've seen that 'type' sheath with a Original 2 line 110 in it. Sheath w/ wide belt loop, no rivets and thinner leather. But it could have been right where different stamped 110's were mfg. and placed in it as well. Who knows--we're close. DM

Your right, I worked too long on Saturday, I shouldn't have put "until"...as they got started there around 1970
