:)
Beautiful knives, big fan of your work.
Can you give me a brief education on the application of this style knive? The thinking that goes behind the design?

Thanks in advance :D

I've stopped making leather sheaths...but I will gladly send your knife to Kenny Rowe or Paul Long for a fantastic one-of-a-kind leather sheath (price should be $50-75 + s/h).

I might be able to get some plain leather ones "stamped out" by a local leatherworker....might save on cost, but I have to do 'em in bulk. Is there enough interest? What color leather?

bjk - that was the first one to go. If you're interested, I can make another like it. Shoot me an email.

ADD - the K-TUSK is a "drop handle" knife inspired by Tom Krein's Push Bowie. The design was (IIRC) based on the profile of a simple pistol grip. My intention with this design is a comfortable conceal-carry knife (most are set up as In-The-Waistband) that is also practical/functional and good looking. Thankfully, that seems to match the feedback I get from buyers.

Thanks for all the great comments!

It seems that the drop point is always the first one to go,darn,i'll have to try
and catch one,but i will soon or later.btw,i would go with leather as well,
the kydex on my tanto grind tusk rubs my skin a little raw at the end of the day.i would say dark brown or maroon.great design, great knives Dan.

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

I think I'll get some leather sheaths made now....:D....I would prefer to keep them IWB...but what kind of "attachment method" do you guys prefer? want it horizontal, vertical or canted?

Dan, I would set the sheath up just like an IWB pistol holster. Given the cant of the handle and the shortness of the blade, it could ride with the choil just above the waist band and offer a full grip for the draw. If the handle is positioned so it is basically verticle, that would be just enough cant, IMO, especially when worn at about 3:00-4:00.

Can't wait to see the sheaths!

Can't say definitively 'cause I've never handled a knife in this style, but I don't think you'd go wrong with Andy's advice. Then again, I would think vertical carry would be OK too, & probably work better than horizontal carry. But again, hard to say for sure without any experince with this style.
Glad to see you offering the leather. Whatever you come up with can only help you sell more knives.

Ok - will order some sheaths.

I would prefer to make something along these lines:

Basically, two belt "cut-outs", one on either side of the knife and the knife would be canted so that blade is horizontal...pic forthcoming...

like this...whatcha think?

or maybe this:

The idea being to carry like the standard K-TUSK in kydex:

I wear mine horizontal, with the handle on the lelft side of my belt buckle
for a quick cross draw, but i think it would work great with a cant, like what
you posted Dan.my 2cent.
Marc

Of course, it depends how the person wants to carry. I carry a pistol most of the time, OWb at about 3-4:00. Therefore, my defensive knife is usually in a cross-draw configuration on my weak side or SOB.

If I only could carry a knife, it would be where I carry my pistol, set up the same way. So, for primary carry, the Milt Sparks holster indicates the (for me) appropriate cant.

If it's a back up, then the photos you have in your last post would be great because they offer the ability to carry weak side or strong side, but more up front on the body rather than behind the center line.

Clear as mud?

Andy

Yep, I'll take one of these and a leather sheath. Drop point, forged finish, O1
Black Ash w/ black liners. I love everything about this knife, the only thing that kept me from buying is the kydex holster.
