Night Indexing? Help please.

I recently purchased a CRK Project 2 from an indivdual. I do not know when the knife was made or how long he has had it, my question is, where is the night indexing, was it not present on some earlier knives? I had read something earlier to the effect of the cross guard being ground flat on one side and curven on the other, but mine are both identical, I can't see any other difference or way to tell the which wy its facing.
