Nitinol Strider i know im crazy

Personally, I like the blade. Personally, I like what Strider does. However, I would be sending a much less expensive knife to the sand box to be destroyed.

The Strider tables at the Plaza Show had some really wild creations and I found myself liking a lot of them.

No flames from me,
Win

Its a neat looking knife, I'd pick one up for a little cheaper. I'd never send one to Iraq though... I'd think a soldier would be way more likely to lose it before ever being able to abuse it.

yea i understand where yall are coming from. but this is really a trial knife. being sent to see how it will stand up to the extreme conditions. and strider is only making a few more because they are just to expensive to make.

I hope it serves its purpose and functions exceptionally.

I wouldn’t be qualified to select anything for use in real combat situations since I’m an armchair quarterback and have no practical experience.

Your Hearts in the right place and I hope it’s what’s really needed.

thanks my son is in iraq right now using a strider along with a busse fixed blade. My family has and most likly will always be soldiers lol, its all we know. so from my experience i know im going to make this certain person and his team extremly happy. and they dont know there getting it yet so i cant wait to ship it.

Who ever the soldier is that gets this blade will protect them in harms way and serve them well. I'm sure he or she will be ecstatic the day it arrives.

You have a great heart sir. :)

He's gonna just love it! May we all have the opportunity to impact someone in such a positive way...and take it! :D

Good job,

-Michael

that is some weird steel. I never heard of it.

Hmmm....didn't know NiTinol could cut. Google turned up a dense patent about a NiTiNol knife, and a gallery with pics of the knife, including a letter about Crucible's involvement in making it:

I guess it makes sense that it would be a royal pain to make a knife-sized block and then actually grind (or otherwise shape) the thing. Hope the material becomes wide-spread enough to do some comparison with more traditional "super steels".

Knife looks nice and functional. The digi-cam pattern comes out great. If you can afford it, no reason not to buy one, and no reason not to test it to the limit. People have purchased and used more expensive things - no harm as long as it works. Here's hoping the recipient stays safe and gets the job done.

Interesting looking stuff, but I have not read anything about it being used to make high quality knife blades. Nickel and titanium are not a combination that you would think would work well.

thank you guys, this knife i definatly couldnt afford but with the help of a few we managed to pull the funds and get this blade. Strider tries its best to make the tools for soldiers. people think that since sometimes there are imperfections, that makes the knife worthless. but we have to remember these knives were built for soldiers who dont care about looks and small imperfections. they only care about results. we bought this knife because strider took a chance to help revolutionize the knife industry. if someone has the guts to do that he deserves my support. this new metal which is not steel will hopefully help with greater things such has armor for our tanks and its lighter and stronger than kevlar. sorry if i come off as a die hard strider fan. because i am actually not. i am just recognizing what he is doing.
Thank you guys for reading this and supporting

You're going to make a lot of soldiers very happy. :)

I don't think most Americans realize just how important these surprises from home are, when you're far away and under fire. A single cookie can make your week -- the knife will make their month.

A whole family of soldiers. You're not alone. :D

haha yea i remember my son told me how happy he was when a family in texas sent him a care package. which had some razors skittles and soap. he was so excited mostly for the skittles but was so happy that people still cared for what he is doing.
