I got up at 4:00 this morning, this thing was so close I just had to finish it. Specs:

Overall Length - 18 1/2"
Blades - O1 - 6 3/4"
Guards - Brass
Handle - Stainless Wire over Pakkawood

This was a commission I accepted before I understood it was double-edged... Let that be a lesson! Question your customer carefully. :) I was terrified to try this, as the two previous attempts years back Sucked, big time, capital "S". But a promise is a promise, and that variable speed BIII is heaven and saved me again.

And bless me, I finally found a use for that old Pakkawood! :p

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Man. Somebodys gonna cut themselves with that. :D It looks like you have done a very nice job on it. Is that the brass guard that was posted a couple weeks ago? I think the double edges look unuform and match, nice finish, good and straight. Its a show peice! I cant wait to see the sheath. You have given me an idea what to do with that pakkawood I have. Thanks for posting. Cool Knife

You're right, only a fool would try that. Looks like you pulled it off very well, you crazy fool. :)

Not sure I like the design but it was great in exicution.

I liked the wire handle. What type and size wire did you use and how did you attach the ends?

Keeping on, Lynn

Bruce, yep that's the guard I cut out of the big chunk of brass. I sure am glad to have that one finished! It's hungry too, cut me twice before I finished it...

Lynn I know what you mean, I really had to think twice before I agreed to make it. But then it started to grow on me, now I'm to the point I might not want to deliver it... That's .032 stainless wire I got off eBay, great deal and it's dead soft, no annealing was required at all. Next time though I think I'll lube it a bit before twisting, might get it tighter that way.

I had fun making it, a challenge all the way. Now it's time for the next one! Thanks for the comments, gents.

Neat knife Dave! Really cool design and looks like you did a beautiful job on the execution. Wait, did I say "execution" ??? Yikes! :D

Very cool knife. Is that for Vinny as in Vinnys Knives. To match his website banner?

I have to admit when I saw your guard post I was wondering what type of blade it was going on.

Again really a neat project.

Beautiful grind on that beast Dave. If you can keep the lines straight on that thing you are ready to take on the world. Hmmmmm.....If that's an Madu you still need to mount a small shield, back to the grinder!:D :D :D

Just to cool Dave....Glad it was you doing it and not me:D
I also can't wait to see the sheath for it,got any ideas what you will do for the sheaath?
Again great looking Knife..
Bruce

Thanks for the kind words! You know, I've been wondering about the sheath too. I'm thinking a two-parter where each would attach to the other to hold them together...we'll see.

Just for the record, this one is thirsty; bit me twice in the making... :D

Yes, this is for Vinny as in Vinny's Knives, he's a great guy. I met him at local gun shows while working for one of his competitors. So I'll be delivering knives to two knife dealers next weekend! It just doesn't get much better than that, does it?

I'm sorry about the foggy pic, I just cannot get my camera to focus on that small an object at a distance great enough to get it all in one frame. I'm ready for a new camera, the one I have is awesome for closeups but rotten for much else...sigh. Wish I were made of money!

And so does Jeanie.

Dave

Dave that turned out really cool, I know keeping those grinds the same would be a pain on a single blade but to match them up back to back would have been a hair pulling experience for me. The guard work fits the blade nicely and it should make a great conversation piece, it could be a little wicked on the wrists and forarms :D .

Bill

Thanks again, guys. Bill, let's just say this is a knife you wouldn't want to be carrying when you fell down the stairs... I really haven't been able to figure out a 'safe' way to hold it!

Dave

Very beautiful and unusual...
And very nice blades.
I just wonder what would be it's practical use... Mass seppuku? :D :D
