why did they stop producing the Gerber Yari? i loved that knife. same thing with SIFU's. just as soon as i really liked them and wanted to buy one they stoped makin them.

I had noticed through my favorite retailers that the price had increased each year. Maybe it became too expensive for Gerber to produce?

I have a pair of Gerber Yari (one of 'em is up for trade for a Spyderco Perrin :)), and I find the Yari to be an EXCELLENT knife (154CM steel, canvas micarta scales, full-tang, perfect grinds, etc.)...It must be TOO good of a knife for Gerber to continue to produce..

Yup, they Yari is one good knife at a nice price...that's for sure! I hate Gerber for doing sh!t like this though...I really do. Over the years they have stopped making some of their best knives...and I HATE IT! When you wanna get a Mark series or Command or Guardian, you have to pay the same price as a top of the line production folder, which probably is an all round better knife than any of those. Then they start making a Guardian with a awful sheath and Limited Edition Mark II's that are crazy over priced for what they are. Grrrr...

I really like my Yari in spite of the poor grind lines and overall sub par fit and finish. Coupled with Gerber's legendary inferior customer service and quality control, they will really have to produce a bombshell to get another dollar from me. There must be some incredibly short sighted folks pulling the strings. I bet these same blind and grossly overpaid captains of industry blame their woes on the hourly Joe toeing and toiling the company line. So sad, too bad, they coulda been a contendah.

Oh man, I loved that knife. (along with the spectre, those 2 hooked my onto this hobby)

The Yari and the Spectre are definitely the best-looking knives Gerber ever produced.

Use this as a lesson. When you see a knife you like grab it quick! It may not be available tomorrow. Way better to live with guilt from overspending than regret from not :)

That I would have to disagree with you on...The Mark II is by far one of the most popular knives they ever made and sickest to look at! Especially one with a wasp blade and gray handle. Those are what every other doulbled edge dagger blade knives hope they could be. The Mark II is one beautiful knife.
