Non metalic handles?

I was flipping today, and I started thinking, how well would a balisong work with plastic of composite handles? I know it would be light, but G10 seems to have great resistance to impact and can't be too much lighter than T-6 or titanium. I don't know if this would have any particular advantages, but it would look cool, and could improve grip over metal. Opinions?

G-10 or carbon fiber handles would be cool, but because of the constant hitting of the tang pin on the material, it will probably start to split.

Hi,

Plastic, etc... have been tried before. The
Finnish Hackman knife comes to mind, The main problem I guess is that some lack the weight to flip properly. Also, many I guess as stated before, would spit due to repeated impacts.

Hope this help's:D !!!!!!!!

thanks, I was afraid of that. I was just trying to think of exotic materials. How about Berylium? They make bikes out of it for people who can afford it.

i had a 'wodden balisong' thread here some time ago, and BaliDude told me that i could try t10, because it was strong, and easy to work with (but i have no personal experiences about it, though - heck, i don't even know what g10 is! ;)).
further on, he told me that Fred Perrin has made at least one balisong out of g10. maybe you should try asking him?
here's a link to the thread so that you can read the thread yourself. it's pretty far down on the page, almost at the bottom.
