It was another fun day today even though I did'nt have much $$$. Did some trading and just hanging out with knifeknuts. The nice thing about smaller shows is that you have time to mingle and enjoy the company. The custom makers really get a chance to sell themselves, speaking of which, the talent here in the Northwest is just amazing! Nice to meet Nick and check out his knives, he's a young guy going places. Keep next Oct. 27-28th open on your calendars for our Fall show, it will be just the right time to get yourself a great Xmas gift!

I'm REALLY glad that I got to meet so many of you guys, that makes it a lot more fun (and adds to the reality of this site and all of our posts).

Thanks for the kind words

Mike is the kind of guy that is just plain fun to talk with at shows...somebody that has passion for good knives. He was kind enough to show me some of the pieces he had at the show, and he has very good taste!

For those of you that were able to come Sunday, hopefully you got to meet Lonnie Hansen. I know Brad would have enjoyed talking with him for hours. Lonnie is super nice, and he's making some of the most outstanding hand-forged work I've seen out there. He had several Japanese influenced pieces, with his own style...plus several hawks... Man, this guy is GOOD.

It was his first show, and we are trying like heck to get him to keep doing them, lots of them. The man has talent.

His site doesn't really do his work justice, but here's a link

I HIGHLY suggest that you get one of Lonnie's knives before he realizes just how good he is...his prices are VERY modest for the quality. You wouldn't believe his temper lines!!!

Well, I'm done rambling for awhile. Thanks everyone for coming...that's what will help get this show big some day.

Hey Nick, concur 100% on your opinion of Lonnie Hansen. Those Tanto's were unbelievable! I didn't want to mention him because I need to save enough to get one before the word gets out he's priced too low! Totally selfish of me.
Believe it or not, the reason he had a table was because of this forum. He saw the posting here for the show and was able to get a table because of a last minute cancellation. Is this a great tool or what?
I gotta go find something to sell on eBay so I can get one of those Tantos.

I had a great time at the show. Spent some time talking to Rob (Criswell). He is a great guy who makes some incredibly sweet blades. Someday I will have one of his pieces. Sorry I couldn't hang out longer and meet some of you guys.
BTW, I sure am sorry I missed Lonnie's stuff as well. I am sure it was awesome.

I also had a great time at my first knife show. I took my son who's 6 and he really got into it as well. It helped that everyone was friendly and tried to include him in the conversations too.

Although I didn't plan any purchases, I came away with a beautiful custom knife made by Roger Clark (my first custom too, BTW). I was really impressed by his attention to detail -- pretty amazing knives he makes. Even my wife thought it was a great looking knife. That really helped ease her into the price I paid

I can't wait until the show in the fall. I'd better start saving now....

Sorry to have been so slow getting back to this forum.

Nick, it was great meeting you on Saturday last. It was great seeing the name of a maker I read posts from here in the flesh. Was astonished at how young you are. Am sure you're going to be one of the best known soon.

I really wish I'd managed to hook up with Dann and a couple others. Guess am not outgoing enough. Or, maybe I just look dull. Yeah, its possible.

Really enjoyed your knives. I still am in shock from the fact that I bought a Sebenza, and did that early enough to feel too guilty to buy any other knives. Somehow, didn't pay as good attention to anything after that either. Still feel guilty I didn't maybe spend that money on a custom. Still haven't decided if am going to keep it or not. It's growing on me, but I really don't understand the wild excitement of the Sebenzanistas.

Looking at the picture again, is that Dann F. behind you, looking at the Al Mar exhibit? Ain't saying it is so, but if you look over that guy's shoulder/neck, you can see a light-colored ball cap with some gray hair beneath. That could be me! And, maybe not, too. Would have to mean that this pic was shot Saturday.

I liked the knives of a forger from Kent or Auburn. I encouraged him to find the forums. He does some outstanding damascus. If that is my gourd, then I should probably have been at his table. Got his card, but it isn't handy.

Am gonna keep coming to those shows. Hope all the Western WA knuts and makers make it in the fall.

Yep, that's you in there! And yes, you're looking over Tom's table!

Tom Ferry is the man we're talking about...one hell of a damascus maker. He always has outstanding knives, and he's a really good guy. He won best hunter/utility at the OKCA show in April.

He's helping me out on some composite damascus for a dagger I talked to him about.

Thanks again for the interest in the show everyone!
