Very pretty knife!! I particuarly like mosaic pins and handle finish. My woods never come out that clean and bright. What finish did you use?

Use some superglue to fill in the fissures...it will make a nice knife look even nicer:)

Thanks to all for the kind words. The pins look rough in the picture but are smooth in real life.

Bruce, the Amboyna is stabilized by WSSI. That's a big part of it. I can't even come close to their finish with wood hardener or pentacryl. They were hand sanded down to 800 grit and then buffed with white buff then with Minwax Wood Furniture Wax Finish.

Hey Tracy, you done good on those mosaic pins. What did you fill them with? Is that stained epoxy?

It is epoxy I colored with Rit dye. It only takes a few drops of the liquid kind. I thinned it a bit with acetone and the vacuum was pulled with a food saver. The thinned epoxy takes a little longer to cure but eventually hardens up. The hardest part of making them is dragging yourself around to the local RC hobby shops to buy the material. I've wiped out three different stores.

I really like that handle shape too Tracy. If you haven't named it yet here's an idea for you. When I look at it I think of a sea horse. I'd name that knife the 'Sea Wasp' or 'Salty Dog'. I wonder if Feibing leather dye would work in the epoxy? It's alcohol based. I don't see why it wouldn't. Have to give it a try.
