Not For Sale?

When you're thinking about buying a new knife, and you limit the field to 2 or 3 finalists, do you search the For Sale forums to see what knives are NOT for sale very often? I do that, figuring that if people aren't selling a particular knife, it's because they really like it and/or use it. So far it seems to have worked out pretty well.

Try to find anything by Neil Blackwood - never did I see them for sale

and that is a good sign!

It's hard to tell. For me, I may be infatuated with a particular knife or style of knife for a while. Then all of a sudden, it doesn't appeal to me as much and I'm to something else. Or, if a knife suddenly becomes very collectible, I may do a quick sale to buy other things. It doesn't mean I didn't like the knife, I just like something else better. I mostly buy knives to use though, not to collect.

Good point. Another good indicator can be how quickly a knife is snapped up when it does hit the For Sale forum.

No.

I have seen virtually every kind of tactical or custom knife for sale on these forum with the exception of very high end knives and militaria. The reasons those knives are not marketed on this site is because we are not a good market for those items. People change, and collectors evolve over time. We tend to outgrow our collections like kids go through shoes. That is why knives hit the exchange forum. Many of these knives are in completely unused condition. There is nothing wrong with them. But, our interests has taken a turn and these no longer fit.
