But it did hold together through the entire process. I wanted dramatic contrast like Damasteel but it does have the stainless steel in it and it didn't fall apart. The edge is good and the grain looks OK. I really expected the blade to take and hold a good edge because the vast majority is carbon steel. Anyway, my first try at stainless/carbon damascus:

Peter, I would say it`s looks danm good for the
first try. But if it`s not what you wanted then

Well Peter, I flipped Sylvester for it and I won, so you can just send it on to me, don't worry about that other guy.

Actually, you got a pair man, to try that, and it paid off handsomely. Thanks for sharing your method and results.

Peter,I have some I did with 440C in it.But I had let it cool to much on the last welding heat as I stretched it out and thus broke the stainless loose from the billet and so I made some scrap out of it.This looks really good,A great big CONGRATULATIONS;)

Peter, I agree with everyone else, looks great. But dog gone it, now you got me wanting to try it, I can see right now, theres lots of beginnings, but there's no end to this damascus making. :D
