This was my grandfathers machete/big knife. He recently past away this October. I really like this knife alot, however this knife is old and its time for it to retire to the safe as an heirloom before it gets broken. Can you make another just like it or very similiar? better steel, G-10 handles, full convex grind, maybe .275 thickness? Not sure who the original maker is or was, hell he might have made it for all I know. I photographed it next to my mistress for scale

The handle looks like a Tramontina Machete. Possibly a Bolo machete that was modified.

Forgot to add - cool looking machete.

here's what I came up with:

20 inches long, 14 inch blade

1/4" 5160 & G10 would be around $300.

Whatcha think?

Go ahead and place an order in my Order Tracker:

Put it under "Other" and add the above details in the "comments" area.

Make sure to give the order a name. ;)

Hey just placed my order, um may have done something incorrectly though as it calculated my order at $15.00. It's in there though, I named it BIG UGLY. I did not know what to put for "finish" so I left it blank but I would like it to have a rough finish similiar to the original.

Hills?

Does that machete have any markings on it??

When I was a kid in the 70's I piced up a similar one at a surplus store in Florida.

It the tip of it was slightly difft but the thickness the way that handle fits and is attached and all the rest is the the same.

I think mine says

A. Dumas
acier fondu

Or something like that. It was allegedly Senegalese.

The handle broke off mine and I replaced it but I still have mine.

I'll have to check, not a 100% sure but I think it is sterile
