I have the privilege of visiting Manhattan regularly. However I finally have an upcoming trip, to the Big Apple, with an afternoon with nothing to do! Can anyone give me the name and address of some good knife shops in NYC? I know this question has be asked before, I could not find the info in a search. I appreciate it.

There's really only 3 knife shops in Manhattan with any sort of selection. The best is probably Iceberg Army & Navy on Broadway about 2-1/2 blocks north of Canal street. Very high prices though. Paragon Sports on Broadway and 17th street is pretty good, though their selection has become less than what it once was. Though probably not true, it SEEMS as if they don't restock the knives that they sell, so slowly there are less and less knives in their selection. They're also the only store in the city I know of that sells custom knives. Prices are comparable to standard retail I guess. The last place is a martial arts store on 6th Ave and about 28th or 29th street, Goodwin or something that has "good" in it. More than half the selection are cheap Chinese/Taiwanese ripoffs though. High prices on the brand names too.

Grapevine summed it all up :)
A suggestion, start at Iceberg and walk up B'Way to Paragon, then over to 6th and up to 28. It'll take an hour or two, but I can't think of a better way to spend a spring day in NYC.
And the shop on 6th has a good book selection too.
Enjoy!
