O1 Quench questions

It's me again, I am ready to try and heat treat some O1, my question is... can I use vegetable oil for quenching? I've heard talk of olive oil, will vegetable oil work as well? Also I plan to use a gallon can full to quench in, Is this enough for a small blade around 4" with a total legnth of 9"......Thanks everyone! Richie

you bet thats what ise is veggy oil,1 gallon of it in a steel pan, as long as you don`t do 5 or 6 in arow then the oil will come past the right temp..1 at a time and let the oil cool down before you quench again, should do the trick for ya
