Hello folks,

I just got a request for making two the same daggers, one with a white and one with a black handle. They don't need to be ultra-heavy duty, simply cutting edges suffice. I'm guessing something like AUS-8 or 440-C steel is good. Not too expensive... I dunno what they are for, but I assume for some play about wicca, probably something around that theme. Anyway.. an old girlfriend asked and I can't say no, however I am quit incapable of making daggers.. never did it before, and I am not gonna start now besides my order list is already well over a year long. So to cut price and time, blanks.

Now I am too lazy to hammer out two daggers, and I'll never get them excactly the same :D . Soooo.. does anyone know where I can find some decent quality dagger blades ? Preferably in Europe, but USA is OK too since I know how to get stuff shipped here whithout the huge price tag.

thanks in advance, bart.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the information.. one questions and one note :

1. J. Neilson, you got incoming mail !

2. Stu and dave, I don't know about texas knifemakers supply quality, or atlanta cutlery ( figures.. european :D )... are the blades any good? I mean.. they must be able to cut food and a branch and bend a bit whithout breaking or bending. Especially the 12 incher of atlanta cutlery looks nice.. so doea the 8 incher.. but I'm unsure about quality.. what can I expect? I mean.. I'm not gonna sell junk.. maybe I should get a few more and test them first  :D

Thanks for the answers in any case.. I'm first gonna try and work something out with J. Neilson, Looks like I'm gonna get a lot more quality there :D ( Nice website BTW Mr Neilson )

greetz and take care, Bart.

P.S. Soon new skinner done.. 5160 mirrorpolished, thuya and reindeer handle.. good looker. Stay tuned :D

Bart if you have time why not order the supplier's catalogs. That way you can start to see all the neat stuff you want. If not needed this time you'll have them for the future.

I haven't used any of TKS' blades but they're for the most part 440C and usually available cryoquenched for a few dollars more. The photos look good, but that doesn't really mean much.

But it sounds like you might work out a collaboration with J Neilson, which would be cool. I always enjoy collaboration, seems to be a good way to do something you might not otherwise do, that plays off the other's skills. Anyway, enjoy.

Dave
