sorry for the bad pis. do yall have any ideas on how to correct this it is brand new

The easiest way to correct blade centering on your new Emerson folding knife is to use proper spelling and grammar.

All kidding aside, use it for a while and let the washers break in. My CQC-10 isn't centered either and a quick search of the board told me to let it break in before trying anything. However you can try loosening the pivot, putting in a few paper shims and tightening the pivot to "train" the blade to be more centered. Let it sit for a while and remove the shims and tighten the pivot again.

Your pivot looks too loose judging from how far away from the liner scale it is. Tighten it up a bit. Theres no reason to return that without trying to straighten it out first, why the heck would anyone do that?

Send it back for a refund. No excuse for that on a brand new knife.

you obviously dont own an emerson...

i just looked at my 15 ive had for almost 2 years and its the same way dont worry about it unless its rough to open and for that just break it in.

One thing worth trying then is to loosen all the screws on the knife including the pivot but don't remove them. Then once everything is loose, tighten down the pivot, and place cardboard shims on either side of the blade to center it, then tighten down all the screws and set your pivot tension back to where you want it.

If that doesn't work I'd suggest calling Emerson, their customer service is really quite good and will take care of you I'm sure.

This works really well. One CQC8 I had that I bought used a long time ago had a slightly off center blade. I was instructed to basically try what the above post recommends and no sooner was the blade straight and true.

thanks that worked its not much better but its good enough for me. it doesnt rub anymore when i open it

I've had good and bad Emerson knives. They prefer to be tight at the pivot. There is zero excuse for a blade to drag the liner from the factory. I'd send it back and Email the company before. I hope they'll take care of you.

Glad it's center for you now. When I do get one thats a little off center I always take them completely apart and when i put them back together i put some teflon tape on the pivot screw adjust it until the blade is center and they're fine. Sometimes the pivot is a little tight for awhile but it breaks in and smooths out.

I've carried my Commander for about 9 years with the blade contacting the liner. It never really bothered me but I thought I'd try this anyway. Worked perfectly! It's actually off-center in the other direction now, but I bet with new washers and another try it would be close to perfect.

Thanks!

The cardboard shims is new, a member on another forum came up with that bit of genius. So far that has worked on every folder I have, glad its helping,

just noticed that the pivot screw on my knife came from the factory "thumb tight" I was able to turn it only with my finger. Does that sound right? I thought it would be much tighter and would require a screwdriver to turn it.

This usually works well for me.
