I,ve been sharpening up my S:K:S bayonets and putting an edge on my knives .
I even made a birch bark sheath that while turning inside out still turned out pretty nice . Been making arrows and trying to get the camp gear ready . I still have to put an edge on my hawks . That will take extra work as they took a beating the last rendesvous I went to .

I,m usually the only thrower there . Or at least the only one that bothers to bring throwers . I,m just gonna set up a length of log and have fun . Heck I might even wrap the bayonets with pink masons line so they will be easier to find .
Four days of archery games and tournaments lotsa friends swimming and horseback riding for those so inclined . There is even a night foam animal shoot which is a hoot .

Pot luck and wild game supper . There is usually a pot of stewed bear meat which never has to be cleaned up . One guy brings these huge meat pies called a Lac Saint Jean which is to die for .

A couple of bottles of mead and maybe a lively lass or two . Campfires and a whopper or two . Pass out and do it all again . I,ll see ya in a few days .

Wow I got back a couple of days ago . I didn,t have internet access so couldn,t post until today . I had a great time at the rendesvous . Not much throwing though . I got to throw my cold steel kukuuri machete cause they said it wouldn,t throw . Luckily it thunked home on the first throw .

I improved my archery form with the help of one of the organisers . I was scary good the whole day . I still have a long way to go on my consistancy .

I don,t have picture posting rights here so as soon as I figure out how I can post some pics I,ll get some up here . Somebody mentioned I could use photo bucket ?

putfile and image shack should be good enough...

glad you are still alive :D

I would like to learn archery someday. Seems intresting too. Its weird that i like any sort of projectile.

Projectile vomiting ? L:O:L

I have plans for a simple bow made from an ash 2x6 which could be dirt cheap depending upon where you live . Its supposedly the easiest bow in the world to make .

I went swimming at least a dozen times and visited a Bison farm on the way home . I picked up ground meat which is super lean and makes a great burger if not over-cooked .

I picked up ribs as well . The meat is very tender . It is covered by a thin skin/membrane that is hard to remove and gives the meat a tough chew .
The ribs themselves can be used as tools though I admit I have never made anything from them . Maybe I will trade with them .

While I have heard of rib bone being part of a composite bow Buffalo ribs are mostly used as tools or handles . Their curve is ergonomically designed for knapping stone arrowheads . I think they are sometimes used as crooked knife handles .
