Ok guys help me here. I cant make up my mind as to which swisstool I want to get. The CS's arent an option because I dont like the bulk. The choices are...

Swisstool - 2 Blades, No Scissors, Metal File
Swisstool X- 1 Blade, Scissors, Metal File
Swisstool RS - 2 blades(one really cool seatbelt/rope cutter), scissors, NO Metal File.....

Ive been carrying a Supertool daily for over 12 years and I think I may have used the serrated blade maybe once.... The Scissors would be nice, but again....would I miss that second blade? The RS is really cool, but I think I would rather have the metal file.......Decisions, decisions. Wouldnt it be nice if I could have a Swisstool with the Cutter as the second blade, and still be able to retain the metal file.... That would make my decision so much easier.

Tell me what you think.....

I first fell in love with the Leatherman Charge design and blade and stuff, but I tested it in a cutlery this week, and I really didn't liked it. I also tested the swisstool, and this one is really sweet to me. lots of features, and not that big, even compared to the charge.

I'll go with a Swisstool X (in fact, the CS, I like the wrench and am going to use it quite a lot.).

firtsly, I never had to use a serrated blade, and use quite frequently scissors. I sometimes need a metal saw too, so this one is for me.

If you don't use the serrated blade, why to ask for one? it is not very frequent to have to cut a seatbelt, and if you need to, it will be quite long to open this blade from the swisstool, just put a S&W first response (here ) in your glovebox, it will do the job better, and your swisstool will perform real EDC without wearing this "useless" blade (I speak just for you, anyone else using serrated blades will choose less easily).

Dude !!

Wait just a couple more weeks for the new SwissTool Spirit :D

It has all the blades you need and is smaller in size - about the same as a LM Charge and a bit lighter too :)

Having said that, if you want a tool that's built like a tank and which is already proven in daily use - the SwissTool is the way to go !!

I have both the Original and RS versions but I use the Original most often as the scissors are a bit puny and small for the size of the tool and I tend to use the Serrated blade more often than the Straight blade for quicker and easier cutting, the serrations aren't all that heavy which may be good or bad according to what use you wanna put it to.....

well, I don't like the shape of the swisstool spirit, and seeing the price difference with the original swisstool, I wonder if they haven't decreased the overall quality.

I don't mind the weigh ant the size of the swisstool, so I'll go for the old one.

anyway, I'll get it for christmas, so the swisstool spirit will be available from long time, and reviews will tell us which one is the best, and help me to choose. for the moment I don't like the handles and blade shape of the spirit.

Well....smaller size isnt exactly a plus for me. Thats why when I replaced my original supertool, I chose the ST 200 over the wave. The Wave is really nice, but its way too small for my hand. If the Spirit is that much smaller than the Swisstool, I'll more than likely stick with the Swisstool....

I looked long and hard at these and bought the Swisstool RS. I am involved in Ski Patrol and yacht racing and it is the perfect one for both activities. I don't need the metal file all that much, but I do really like having the blade selection of straight and serrated AND the scissors.

I alternate between this and a Leatherman Wave (sometimes Charge TI if I can get used to it) when I need something smaller. My favorite of all three is the RS.

I bought the RS and love it. I wanted the scissors, and didn't give a rip about the metal file. It turns out that I love the seat belt cutter, it rocks on poly pipe, strapping, wire, and other abusive materials. It leaves me with a sharp blade when I need one. I looked at the preliminaries for the Spirit and decided that I'd rather have a full size tool. Haven't been sorry at all. In fact, if they discontinue the RS, I'll have to buy a couple more ...

Good luck, Gordon
