Old Delica question

I have an old Delica with G2 steel and an all FRN handle(clip molded in also). I know I purchased this knife around 1994-1995. I also have a new Delica 4 and don't enjoy it near as much as the old one. My question is when did they stop making the ones with the all FRN handle and how hard are they to find now? I would really like to pick up another old one if I could.

Pretty sure everything pre-D4 is discontinued. You might be able to find them on ebay and stuff.

you could probably trade your newer one off in the exchange forum here and get an older one in return.

If it's the blade profile of the 4 that you don't like, take a look at the 3. Easier to find than a 1, and better steel too. If it's the clip, then you're stuck trying to find a 1. They do come up now and again, but the NIB ones command a price nearly double the 3 or 4.

That's funny this came up! I just broke my frn clip on my delica yesterday. Made me very upset. I was lucky in the fact that I have a few frn clipped delica back up's. Let me tell you they are far and few between, especially NIB. Also most of the G-2 blades have the thinner (weaker) frn clips, where as the AUS8 have the thicker frn clips. Keep checking the forums and auctions and good luck with the hunt.

Thanks guys. I don't know what exactly it is but I just like the Delica 1 so I will keep looking. Maybe one will turn up.

The Delica 4 came along in 2006. I found a D3 P/S at a gunshow, but personally, I love the D4 and hated the D3.

Yeah I also have a D3 but don't care for the handle at all on that knife. Thier (3 or 4) just not the same as the ones to me. My 4 has more blade play than the 3 or 1, go figure.

I wonder if Spyderco would fix it for you?

Yes, Spyderco will fix the broken frn clip, but the way they fix them is by attaching a metal clip. Man I hate thoughs metal clips, seem to tear up alot of things or I'm just clumsy. Over the years I've broke a few of the frn clipped delica's. I just grind the rest of the clip off, then I use them in my truck and car glove box, tool box at work and home, fishing tackle box ect... They still make a great work knife just with out the clip!

You are just clumsy. I have not torn up anything with a metal clip. I have one old FRN delica and an old FRN Harpy. They are mostly stored away now, replaced by metal clipped knives.
No the FRN Delica and Harpy are not for sale.
Without is one word.
