I was at a gun/knife show this weekend, when I happened to stumble upon an old-style pioneer with the old lock. Wow!! what an improvement in usability!!
The old locking system is just so different. I was always wondering what it was like, but never expected it to be what I saw. I can't even describe it right. And, no, I'm not saying it was bad, just a lot different type of release.
Instead of the slider on the side(which goes vertical) it was a metal "pin" on the top of the handle...not even in the handle! It sat just under the thumb stud and slid toward the front of the knife to release the blade. I probably don't do the design justice, and I'm not knocking it.
Au contraire! I'm complimenting the company on taking a good strong lock and improving it to be a vastly easier to use system for the common folk, such as us.
Thanks guys and gals, keep up the great work!
