Old Question: Which should I choose: mini CQC7 tanto or Benchmade mini-Stryker?

I cannot decide which tanto EDC to purchase. The debate in my mind is between purchasing the Benchmade mini-Stryker tanto. Manual, satin finish, partially serrated or the Emerson mini-CQC7 tanto satin finish, partially serrated, manual open. Also, I have discovered a new knife in this category for consideration. The Benchmade 722 Mel Parude axis lock tanto folder. It's only slightly larger and seems to be the best of both previously mentioned tanto folders.

From your experience which one has the best overall quality and best liner lock?

Thanks!

If it is for utility I would go with the Mini-Stryker. It is double ground while the emerson is chisel ground. The chisel ground makes cuts veer off to the side. I own a 910HS and the handle on that is super comfortable. I imagine the 905 would be similar.

check it out on the show me your SOGs thread on the SOG forum, i really want a Ti version.

oh quality of Liner Lock-Benchmade. Benchmade is best, Syderco doesnt really make liner locks anymore, and microtech uses microbars which are a little different, so benchmade makes the best liner locks, as long as you ignore the existance of the Microtech LCC (godlike knife).

I have a commander it's a fantasticly well designed knife-construction not so fantastic.

I edited my post to include the Benchmade 722 Mal Pardue axis lock tanto folder for consideration. It may be the best combination of the Emerson mini CQC7 and the Benchmade mini Stryker.

What do you think?

I own both Benchmade 905 (Mini-Sryker) and Emerson Mini CQC-7B models. I have large hands and find the grip on the Emerson CQC-7 is better than the Mini-Stryker. Also, the blade and liners on the Mini-CQC-7 are thicker than on the Mini-Stryker, plus you have the added bonus of being able to switch the pocket clip on the Emerson for tip up or tip down carry. To be honest, I've carried and used both but I still prefer the Emerson. It's a robust and tough little folder and the chisel ground blade works well for general utility tasks, but if you want a more utilitarian version for more intricate cutting you can get the Mini CQC-7A.

I own a BM CQC-7 that is much nicer than the Mini Stryker IMHO. However, if faced with your choice I would go with the BM 722. Those new designs are very nice.
