A guy at my work clicked open a little knife today, and I saw it for the first time up close. It is an older Spyderco, steel handle with integral clip, about the size and shape of a Delica.

It seemed a little unrefined. The shoulders of the handle were squared off and the pivot assembly pins were noticeable. Over all it was in nice shape, I was just wondering about when it was made and whether or not I should tell the guy that he should keep it in his sock drawer.

It is not a matter of whether or not you are paranoid, it is am matter of whether or not you are paranoid enough.

Tell him you collect Spydercos and offer to buy him a new one in exchange. He'll probably jump at the offer.

Yekim - sounds to me that the knife maybe one of the older model Standard C05's. I recall the Standards at one time had a steel clip that was stamped out of the handle.

YeK - good to see you back on the forum.

Dex is correct. The early C05 "Standard" model was our 1st attempt at keeping the "Knock offs" away. The integral clip, squared of corners and exposed pins permited a model in the $20-25 retail range. (about 1984) The 2nd attempt was the Endura and Delica.

We made quite a few, but I don't see them much and it might be a "collector" piece now.
