Hello, is it my imagination but does it seem like the Military models with the name "Military" on the blade, are getting harder to find, I have not seen one for sale in a good while, just wondering.

I am aware of the thread talking about the "Military" name being removed from newer models, could it be the ones with the names are already gone ? :grumpy:

I see a bunch of them at all the stores and gun shows...they're safe for now.

I agree with the other brother. I think you the reason you aren't seeing many of the older ones with MILITARY embossed on the blade is because there are so many of the new ones out there now. And that's about all I am seeing too. But if you look at the Ebay and other auctions they are still there.

Glad you brought up the Military. I wish that they would do some limited edition runs of them. I know they already have one with a Carbon Fiber handle but I wish that they would do a few runs with exotic or blade steels like BG-42, ZDP-189, 14-4Cr MO, ect. Do them in limited editions.

I think there are enough steel junkies out there whereas they would really sell well. And do these special ones with MILITARY embossed on them like the days of old.

Robbie,
Are you lost? Are you OK?
( Pssst. This isn't the S*G Forum. :D )

Thanks guys, I have one of the older ones laid back for a rainy day, just seemed like I had not seen as many lately.

Dpris, I like them all.........what can I say. I come over here sometimes and read about all the stuff going on at Spyderco........then I spend more money on more knives. :p

I am O.K, thanks for asking.:D

Hello again, If this pic. is an actual pic of the knife for sale, then this is an example of the knife I have been asking about, (older Spyderco).

It's hard to see, (compare to other pics) but if you enlarge it you can see the words "Spyderco Military" etc. are "engraved" on blade, including Golden, Co. . No black paint at all.

What I am trying to find out is approx. when these models were made and anything else I can, thanks.

It has been a long time since I looked at knives like the Military but if they no longer have the name on them that is a good development.

Having a name such as Military and Police may be hard to explain if you find yourself stopped or searched or have to use it defensively.

The Military pictured in the auction is a fairly new S30V model only a few years old.
The following is a pic of a few of my older style military models:

Black-Ti coated ATS-34
Black-Ti marked CPM-T440V

I just bought a LNIB older 440V Spyderco Military with Military on the blade. It is in great shape and I've been carrying it some since converting it to tip up carry. I guess some didn't like the name on the blade and as I recall there was a trial where a prosecutor really rammed that home with a jury using the knife against the guy that used it to defend himself. (Pring-Wilson trial) That may have had something to do with it also. I don't think anything else changed with the knife did it?

Thanks, could have sworn mine was at least 5 or 6 years old, it has engraving on the blade and two screws holding clip on. I really like mine.....
