On/Scene Tactical Sheaths

I recently purchased a Reeve Shadow IV from Pro Edge (great guy to buy from) and received a On/Scene Concealex sheath. My first impressions of the sheath have been very favorable.

The sheath can be configured for right or left side vertical carry or in the waist band. The sheath carries the knife relatively high and close to the body. This may not be the best place for fast access, but makes carry of a relatively large, heavy knife very easy.

The sheath fits the knife very well. The sheath is tight enough so that the knife is secure with no rattles, yet it can be removed without pulling your pants half way up your chest. The "G" style belt clip which allows for IWB carry, also allows the sheath to be removed without removing your belt.

The only change that I would make to the sheath, is to add the option for cross draw. (This can be done easily enough by drilling one hole)

The overall finish of the sheath is very nice. It is obvious that Eric takes pride in his work.

Thanks

(First review, if you can't tell)

Hi Hornet...

Thank you very much for the review.
I'm glad you are enjoying the sheath.

As for the horizontal cross draw option.. I have done this with the Avaitor sheaths,, but I thought personally the shadow was a little large to carry horizontal...

But maybe I was mistaken... Feel free to drill a hole if need be...

If you have any questions regarding the sheath, please feel free to contact me at any time...

Thanks again for the kind words..

ttyle Eric...

Does the concealex scratch the Kalgard coating when you sheath/unsheath your blade?

I am considering getting one made for my Project II and would like to know how the Kalgard coating holds up against the sheath material.

Maskwa....

There is a chance that it will scratch the blade,, as will any sheath after a period of time.
Taking some precautions with it,, will help.

As I've said before,, if it's a working knife,, it will get scratched daily as it is..

Hummmmm, wonder if this is the sheath I'm looking for to house Newt Livesay's Custom Air Assualt on a 1.75 Black Hawk CQB belt when outdoors 4 wheeling, camping and just playing around. I carry a Blade-Tech concealex holster housing a Colt 1911, double ammo pouches, sometimes cuffs and need a sheath to fit the belt on my right side just behind the pistol.

I'm wating on a answer from Newt about adapting his LBE sheath for this purpose.

Maskwa..
I have the Concealex Sheath for my Project I.
The Blade shows no major scracthes after several draws..
The Sheath fits and functions perfect..

Maskwa,

No scratches yet, but I have not used the sheath enough yet to give a meaningful answer. Will let you know in the future.

Normark
I agree that a working knife will inevitably become scratched, this does not particularly bother me as it is only a question of aesthetics and does not negatively impact on the functionality of the knife.

However these scratches will generally be perpendicular to the edge and will be earned with use, I was more concerned with deep scratches running parallel with the blade caused merely by sheathing/unsheathing which are gained for no real reason.

ProEdge and Hornet
Thanks for answering my question, I am glad the effect is only minimal against the Kalgard. Also nice review it is good to hear that they are quality sheathes, because when I get one it will most likely be from Normark.

Hi Maskwa...

I Very much appreciate the comments..

I do my darndest to keep the scratching to a minimum...I wash each sheath out several times under high pressure water to extract the dust. I don't have air yet,, so this seems to be a good alternative...

A big factor in scratching I believe also comes from Concealex particles trapped in the sheath. I find them to be highly abrasive...

I couldn't agree more about watching out for concealex particles in your sheath. I did some drilling on one of my Nimravus sheaths and must have gotten a few of these particles in there. One draw in and out scratched the bt finish to the steel, it was ugly

. After cleaning out real well, never had another problem. I have a sheath on the way from Normark for my A1, I can hardly wait as I sit reading the review!

I recently received a Concealex sheath for my A-1 from Eric (Normark) at On Scene Tactical, and I must say the fit is perfect and the over-all quality is first class.

I highly suggest that anyone wanting a great Concealex sheath for their Fallkniven A-1 or CRK knife, that they consider buying one from On Scene Tactical.

Eric, how but turning out some of those sheaths for F-1's?

However, make them with the extra hole for a optional cross draw.

Hi Volvi...

Yes,, the FI Sheaths are in the plans..Murray was kind enough to front me the blade and I have the prototype made already,, it will be the same as the AI, except for the fact the FI will have the horizontal option. The AI already has the 45 degree cross draw.

I thought the AI was too big of a Hunka blade to wear horizontal.

Just waiting on a few sheets of concealex so I can start on the FI's...

Thanks for the nice comments!
