Before I purchase the Opalec conversion kit for my AA Mag Light I was wondering if there are any LED lights out there that may be better for me to buy.

I have the Surefire E2e-HA and love the small size, pocket clip and bright light. I also look to my AA Mag Light for a lot of my flashlight uses.

Thanks, Dan

you could look to dat2zip or others on candlepowerforums.com for a custom luxeon drop in light source. would be much brighter than the opalec, this is good or bad depending on your needs. i think the cost is about the same.

Pete:

Thanks for the tip! I checked candlepowerforums out and looks like there are modifications available that will improve my minimag, but I'm still confused!! I guess I'll have to spend more time researching! It looks like it is not as simple as I thought.

yeah, but if you get the mag conversion you're able to have a clean bright light that uses aa batteries, plus you can take the top off and use it in candle mode. i'm very happy with the sandwich that i got from dat2zip. i wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. then again, i'll probably want the KL1 as well. let us know what you end up deciding on.

The Opalec NewBeam is an excellent product. It takes less than three minutes to install and does not require any tools. The conversion is also 100% reversable.

If you are looking for another two cell AA LED flashlight, I suggest looking at the CMG Equipment Reactor. It uses a Luxeon Star LED and is much brighter than the Opalec. The Reactor works best with lithium batteries but akaline batteries function fine, too.
