Opinions on Dozier General Utility?

I'm thinking about getting the general utility as a field/camping knife. Anybody have thoughts on this knife for that particular role? Are Doziers durable? I don't plan on doing any prying, but it would be nice to know that the knife could stand up to some heavy cutting if necessary. Also, how easy are they to sharpen?
Thanks,

You are going to get lots of positive feedback on Dozier knives here, and this positive feedback is well deserved. Bob Dozier makes some mighty fine using knives. He can make the fancy stuff too; he just doesnt have the time or inclination anymore. Go ahead and use that Dozier; it will surprise you with how awesomely it cuts and keeps on cutting. It will do everything you ask of it.

Are Dozier's good knives?? Simply put .....Yep.
Best cutting knives I own.

I own two Dozier's , a straight personal, and a custom
made for me Dozier. Best knife money I ever spent.
The little Personal cuts like it's 7"long when it really
is only 2 7/8". Easy to sharpen?? Yep, a good stone
and some time and your back in business. Just remember
these knives are NOT razors. A working edge on a Dozier
is just that a long time working edge.

I have the Agent and 2 of the folding hunters and they are all really great cutters. Bob's knives are reasonably priced and built to serve. You can't go wrong. I just pondering my next Dozier, probably either the Companion or Personal Utility.

D-2 is not particularly difficult to sharpen, but it is one of the hardest knife steels so it does take time and effort to wear away enough to restore a damaged edge. And that is probably the worst thing anyone will say to you about Bob Dozier's knives. :D

Check out the Pro Guide knife for a little bigger knife. I got a custom one with a 5 1/2" blade, it usually comes with a 4 1/2" blade if I'm not mistaken. Likely one of the best knives I have ever owned. Superb Kydex sheath. If money were no object, I would likely still pick a Dozier for a REAL using knife. I can't say enough good about the knives or the guy that makes them.
