Thanks Laurence..

Bruce,I figure it will, but I haven't had the guts to try as Ivory is to expensive to mess up.Plus all that I have is stabilized allready..
I just remembered that I have some small scrap pieces that I can try on..I will let you know in a couple of Days if it will work..

Some of the color penetrated te whole thickness(1/8 inch) of the bone, some of it is just surface,Just like ivery that if you grind to much it will disapear.
I don't know if it would work on maple,It would do the surface but I am not sure how deep it would penetrate.I am waiting to find some analine dye for the woods.

That looks an awful lot like some of the mammoth ivory that I like very much. You have done a very nice job here.

Bruce very unique. Looks kinda psychacelic. :) :D Nice job. Is that stabilized now or just colored? Cory

Nicely done. Good colors.
Thanks for putting something in the pic to give a size reference.
What size bones did you start with and how many scales did you get out of it?
Thanks,

Thanks Sylvester.
iI will be contacting them soon.
The bones are the leg bones and I can get one big scale and a small scale from each bone. Most of the bones just give a bunch of small scales as they are to curved. Some will make solid one piece handles but not make scales.Looking into ordering pre cut and flattened scales that way The size and length will always be there,as with going out and finding the bones you don't always get ones that will make decent sized scales...
You just have to do allot of experimenting with differnt dyes and techniques to get the look you want and practice cutting different bones to find what will give the sizes you are wanting..
