Where's the best place online to order a SAK? Shoplite.com? Direct from the factory? Some place else?

Amazon.com are usually competive on price. Wallmart and Target have a limited number of SAK models that are very well priced that can be ordered from their web sites.

You can also do a seach on epinions.com which will give you a list of competing stores and their prices. It also have reviews on the products.

If you buy directly from swissary.com you will pay full price. There are many other online stores to purchase from, but the ones listed are based on getting the most for your buck. Someone else might know a specialist online shop that is competitively priced.

Sometimes you can get great bargains on Vic SAK knives from local shops. Many places have surprisingly large amounts of stock that they are eager to move. Of course, at such places, the stock is often not that up to date, but Vic SAK's are timeless.

As gatch said, Walmart and Target sometimes have good prices available. I have made a few purchases from http://www.swissknivesexpress.com/ with good success and for very good prices. Good luck!

Thanks endiku, just placed an order.

How's ole Gilgamesh these days?
Cool. If you don't mind me asking, which model(s)? I'm thinking of getting a Tourist or Waiter to add a 3.3" Vic SAK to my small collection. I really wish they made a Compact in 3.3" size.

Gilgamesh is still doing well; there have been a couple new translations released in recent times. I'm currently reading Stephen Mitchell's impressive new English translation.

Here are some places with good prices:

www.premiumknives.com
http://store.yahoo.com/irawoodinc/visar.html

I have ordered from both, both have great prices and decent service. PremiumKnives is a little slow on delivery but slightly better prices.

Another site is:

www.quickknife.com

Their prices are slightly higher but they have a great selection.

You can also try emailing this guy:

richardphifer@hotmail.com

I have bought stuff from him and his prices are great. He runs his own business out of the house -- low overhead.

Usual disclaimers -- I receive no financial benefits from any of these sources.
