I've bought a few knives lately, and I ended up with too many to organize like I used to keep them (in rows and columns lying flat). I remembered where I stash all of my empty boxes, and I put all of my knives back in their original boxes and stacked them in neat rows and columns by brand.

Anyone else keep their knives in the original boxes? Is there any other way to organize a pile o' knives?

If i got the box with the knife,it is still stored in it.Makes it kind of hard because they take up so much room. That is what the second safe is for, don't ask what is in the first.

Original boxes for me, it does take up room, but it takes up more room if you keep the knives & boxes separate.

I think, for the majority of my knives, I've decided to go with a takle box. Plano has some with drawers that I could line with felt, foam, etc.

The top section, or whatever compartment, could store my knife maintenance stuff.

Large fixed blades may require either another box or some other type of unit. Haven't addressed that issue yet.

Also, some special pieces could dictate special attention in storing/safeguarding.

I keep them in a locking tool chest.

That way, they're out of the way and easy to find in the large drawers. The knives are in the two top drawers, tools and whatever else are in the other, deeper drawers.

I use Plano tackle boxes. I keep the knives in Sack Ups. The boxes are in the closet. I like Plano becasue it is made in the USA.
