Hi All,

I don't post on the forums much anymore, but do get a chance to occasionally lurk. I recently wanted to get a custom made knife that would harken back to an earlier time, something classy and not "tactical" (I have plenty of those). Something I could wear to the office; an all-around knife that could perform most of the duties I threw at it.

I started looking at the Buck 110 as a model to work off of and came across Jerad Gilmars work on these forums. I didn't want anything complicated, and his work looked really clean, so I got in touch with him by email to see if he could put my knife together. His responses were always quick, polite, and professional, and within a few minutes, we had a plan.

The pics are the result of our talks (please excuse the size). Buck 110 with Osage Orange handles, pocket clip, knurled thumbstud, aluminum bolsters, standard blade. This a great knife! It's a hefty 7.1 oz., so it's not for the slacks wearers, but I wear jeans to work, so no worries mate. The clip rides just right in the pocket, though I loosened it up to get it out easier... most pocket clips seem to come tight... at least to me.

Craftsmanship is top notch! The Osage Orange is smooth, no nicks, looks great... a very classic-looking wood (glad I chose it :P ). The action is solid, tough to open at first, but then springs open!

If you're looking at a custom Buck folder, send Jerad an email, you won't be disappointed.

Thank You for the kind words Travis. Glad you like it.

Here is a picture I took with a little more light shed on the scales BG

The color is pretty accurate. I believe Jerad said the wood was a piece he's had around for a while. You have to really get it in direct sunlight to get any "orange" out of it.

I was not familiar with that type of wood, so I appreciate the opportunity to see it.

The grain is beautiful.

Real nice looking 1120,dang this guy is in Canada to boot!I might have to enlist his services on a 110!

Looks fantastic I found the custom buck 110s for sale here the other week and have to say they are an attractive option, your right it is nice to have something that 'harks back' the way the look of the 110 and 112 does.

Osage orange is a great wood for stickbows too.
I like this quince yellow a lot. I have a stave in my
cellar but I think to cut it and to use it for knife handles.

I've been contemplating getting some scale blanks of Osage orange, I think I'm sold now!
Very nice looking 110:thumbup:
Congrats!

A very nice looking knife and with the clip it is very useful. Where I work they don't like knives in sheaths but in the pocket seems okay.

Thanks for all the kind words! I appreciate it, and I know Jerad does as well.
