OT: Dad's ill -- Prayers/Smoke

Mom's going to -.try.- to get Dad to go to the hospital in the morning.
Emphysema from/with continued smoking
has lately worsened rapidly & his stomach hurts.
He doesn't feel like eating anything & has lost considerable weight;
maybe 20-30 pounds in a couple of months.
We're hoping for an ulcer or other simple problem
that has contributed to the breathing becoming more difficult.
Or maybe his lungs just aren't working well enough to get enough oxygen in.
He spent today settling some financial affairs;
so he thinks he won't be around much longer.

At the rate things are going to hell, folks will have to take a number for smoke and prayers shortly. ( expletive deleted! ) Terribly frustrating to see those in need adding up quicker than you can do something about them.

Update:

Dad saw doc on monday/yesterday
no pneumonia
giving breathing treatment
put on at-home heart monitor for irregularity in heart rythm
given med for stomach, if it fails then digestive sytem xrays
appt next week for heart test

So, no bad news yet..............
