Hi everyone,

My little brother has made a forge and is looking for some good used forging supplies. More specifically, an anvil and some tongs.

Does anyone know of any places he can look--web or otherwise?

Thanks in advance for any help!:)

A buddy of mine got an anvil made in the 1700's at a farm auction, and a few hammers. He's made his tongs and other tools himself. You might try to hook him up with a smithing guild in your area as well.

Is he using a gas forge or coal? Make sure not to use green coal, it smokes & smells nasty. Good ventilation is a must in blacksmithing.

Thanks Keith I'll mention the farm auction idea and smith guild as well:)

He's using a coal forge and he has it located by the open garage door (no gasoline or flammables) and the other door open as well as the rear door. This is a HUGE garage. Nice little forge he made. I'm going to go over and do some forging with him soon, and i'll take some photos of the setup and some of the forging to and then post them.
