Our ship has quite literally come in! The last few days have been pretty grueling, but only two more convoys down to the port and we'll be, no kidding, done.:) I'll hang around until all my guys are safely airborne, then I'll be hauling butt with a duffel bag in each hand and a ruck on my back, looking for the proverbial "first thing smokin'". Got an ace in the hole, a Navy Seabee buddy working redeployment for the Marine Corps. If all else fails, he'll get me a ride Monday with a company of Marines who'll be stopping off in Atlanta on their way home. From there I'll have no problem snagging a plane ride to Texas.:D

Next time y'all hear from me I will be sitting in my own house, with a real bed, a toilet that flushes, and all the cold beer I can stuff in the refrigerator.:) :D :) I want to sincerely thank you all for your prayers, for your support, and for your friendship. It's all made an unpleasant task in a faraway place that much more bearable. Thanks.

Sarge

Hi Sarge,
Let me be the first to welcome you home and say "Well done". It'll be great having you back here. I think I speak for most here when I say thanks for what you guys sacrifice for those of us here at home. If you're ever in NC the beers are on me!

And plenty more on tap at the Dog and Duck - hurry home! [BTW, the D&D flunked a recent county health department inspection - guess the inspectors never heard that alchohol kills germs;). They passed on reinspection, BTW, but I bet even on the first try they were a heck of a lot more sanitary than the places you've been hanging out in lately.]

Great news Sarge! You made it thru another one. And your bringing all your people home with you. WELL DONE, TOP!

Thanks for keeping us proud, Sarge. Let me know when you pop the top on one at home and I'll join you here.

Best news I've heard in a while, Sarge. Thought about you boys a lot.

I had all sorts of things I was going to say when I read this kind of message but, I'm not reading too clear right now so I'll just say, Come on home partner. You can't get home none too quick either. I don't think there is a man or woman on this forum that don't love hell out of you and your guys. Have a safe trip: :) :) :D

Fair winds and following seas. Wave howdy to the blue dudes in the white boats on the way out and when you get home...
