Other customs similar to Darryl Ralph EDC?

Greetings all,

I've been looking over the EDC on Darryl's site, and find it just stunning. I'm thinking of selling a few things to finance my first "custom" knife. Anyone want a NIB Sebenza? (just kidding, I'll post it in the forsale site where it belongs.)

Before I pull the trigger on this and order, can anyone tell me if there are other custom makers who make a similar package that I should check out?

Also, I'm leaning towards the carbon fiber / liner lock version. Does anyone know how this compares to the framelock version?

Finally, any thoughts on blade style?

Regards,
FrancisB

I've been checking out customs for awhile now, and have found alot of makers with great knives, but Darrel Ralph's folders and Rob Simonich's fixed blades really made me stop and say "yes, that's it". I ordered an Apogee (haven't got it yet), and more recently ordered a CF EDC and ArcLite. I'd sworn off liner locks, but that CF EDC was just killing me-even had it as wallpaper on my display. Really looking forward to these knives. Darrel has been great to deal with. He's very down to earth, friendly, and quickly responds to emails. Too bad Rob's not taking orders.
Check out Tom Mayo's knives, too. Awesome. I'm trying to talk myself into a TNT (large JF).

Tom Anderson also has some great looking folders, and I think you can see some of them at www.knifeart.com
The CF Howler comes to mind. Don't know if he has a website.
Keep in mind I don't have any of these knives, and can't compare them. I just do alot of looking and drooling

Nothing like an EDC. I also have a large Sebbie and while the EDC definitely gets a majority of the pocket time, the Sebenza is still too nice a knife to part with. Just my $.02.

I take sebenzas for partial trades on TNTs if the seby price is reasonable. (seriously!)

For those of you who may not know Mayo, he is serious. His TNT is a great framelock folder with (as the name would imply) a Talonite blade. Very cool!

...and I will find out how the EDC stacks up to the TNT as my EDC is due within 30days!

Keith, click on the web address on Owen's post above for Mayo knives (www.mayoknives.com), then click on knives, then click on available knives. There's plenty of pictures of TNT's!

From what I've heard, Tom is very "close to the vest" with his TNT designs, and it's very rare to see photos of them in public forums.

My website is located at:

(Nothing fancy, but we're still working on the site!)

Thanks for the mention - especially among all the other great folders by great makers!
