Last week we left Finland and headed to USA. This was be the last good bye to our beautiful, peaceful farm where we have lived the past eight years. It was more that that. To me it was the last goodbye to my Mother Land which I will most likely never see again...

Our friends; Pasi and his wife Elina will picked us up and we spent the last night in Finland at their house.

On Monday morning Pasi took us to the airport. Cass, I and Rhett the cat.

We arrived to New York fist. Carter a friend we met in the Wooden Boat Forum met us there and spent some time visiting with us before we continued with our flight to Philadelphia PA. MIL picked us up there and drove us to her home in a little town about a 100 miles away.

Here are some pictures of our farm and life we left behind and some pictures taken in the near vicinity.

This is where we first lived when we came to Finland. The old family farm right on the Liesjärvi lake.

We were there the first two years. Then we bought our own farm about 11 kilometers away.

Below is pictures of the farm we bought and life there.

It's long journey from Finland to Alaska. I don't know if any of you will find our journey interesting or not. I guess a bit of time will let me know.

We are currently in Pennsylvania. Will head to Connecticut by the end of next week. Plan is to meet up with Indian George and other "new" friends from the Wooden Boat Forum...

Following are a few more pictures of the past in Finland...

.

Honey and a friend taking a tractor load of tidbits to the back field for the deer and moose. The friend had to sit on the hood of the tractor to keep the front wheels on the ground as the load of apples and potatoes was so heavy.

My sweet milk cow Nana... She gave around 13.000 liters of milk in 10 months.
It was so much it almost became a full time job to figure out what to do with all that milk...

I ended up making a lot of cheeses and most of the milk was sold to a dairy...

Cool Pics:thumbup::thumbup: I hope you can make my Hammer-In on April 18th.;):D

GEORGE, got your PM. I'd love to come but I can't make it.

There is a WBF EBS held for me in CT on 18th. I'll be meeting many of the people from the WBF forum who have been cyber friends till now.

Maybe you can come to CT after your Hammer In...??? That would be great...

Gorgeous pictures! Best of luck on your journey and starting a new life. :)

I like your signature line: "Choose wisely -Treat kindly... A secret to a good marriage is to have a quick mind and a slow mouth..."

I'm not married yet but I will try to remember that.

Those are incredible pictures.

I feel so sad that you are leaving Finland. But, happy for your next phase of your journey.

I wish you a safe & peaceful journey to your new home in AK. I send you white light for your journey.

Thank you. I appreciate your comments.

Those signature lines are dear and important to me.

Here is another one I use on the WBF in addition to the two others, but there is not enough room on this forum to have it posted here.

I'm looking for a vehicle for my journey. I can't believe how emotionally involving a vehicle buying is.

I've looked at a lot of trucks, -from Dodge Rams to Fords, but after the Chevy Avalanche they all seem to be just trucks...nothing special and they just don't hold the candle (don't even come near) to the Avalanche, so -I kind of have my heart set on it.

The Avalanche is in a car lot owned by our future family member (marrying into the family in August) so it's a trustworthy source. Their mechanics are going over it today and tomorrow. Fixing a couple of minor things it needs. They are going over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb and getting it ready for me with a tune up and oil change etc.... I should have it tomorrow. I'm not locked into it yet and in the meanwhile they are looking for something else suitable for me.

It's a big one, -a 3/4 ton v8, 8l. It will tow easily and won't strain as it pulls over the Rockies. Gas mileage according to the Motor Trend (?) is 13-14 in the city and 17-18 on the hwy. I can live with that.

Here it is...

Beautiful pics. Fascinating story. I hope you have a safe journey.

Thank you. I'll keep on writing as we go along on our journey.

Here are some photos taken from the car as we travel on the little roads and towns in Pennsylvania...

We are within 50-75 (?) miles of a small city of Butler...

Here are things I've seen on the journey so far.

St. Petersburg post office... The little town has no stores, only post office and a bar...
