Hey, I just got a Gerber Paraframe I, 3in folder and I'm trying to find the legality of carrying it. My question is not on the knife, but rather the fact that im 17. I've done a lot of research online, but have only found how general the laws in PA are...down to the point where there is no mention of age.

I'd appreciate any info!

Thanks in Advance,
Zach

I know of no restrictions at the state level regarding "age for knife carrying" in PA. That doesn't mean that there aren't some weird local ordinances, which could cause you issues in a certain municipality. As you probably know already PA has the usual "dirk, dagger, switchbade" type laws, which are fairly common. The bottom line on most any knife law is the use of the knife for an intended purpose. Certainly one would EXPECT a 16 y.o. deer hunting with his Dad to have a Buck 110. The knife is an appropriate tool.

Carry the same Buck 110 on Broad Street in Philly and threaten someone and you could have a serious problem. Unfortunately, this is a dilemma for all knife folks....is it a tool or a weapon?

Use of common sense is fundamental to avoiding any issues with any form of knife carry.

Alright, thank you! That was kinda the conclusion that I had come to in terms of the common sense issue. I have a computer repair business as well, and although I very seldomly need a knife for that, it serves as a valid reason to carry.

Thanks for the quick response!
Zach
