I always liked the packrat but never got to see one or handle it in person. I had just heard about the possibility of the camo, and seen that a while back you confirmed it was on the disco list:(. I would absolutly love one Thomas, thank so vey much for offering! You sir are are such a huge part of what makes me enjoy kershaw and the way you guys do business.

Are they aluminum handle or g10? Not like it matters, just curious!

So generous, you sir really are a true gentleman! I can't think of another knife company or person for that matter that just gives away knives to their valued customers!

Today after lunch I heard the dogs barking and a reverse signal while i was out in the shop. I looked out the front window and was pleasantly surprised to see a big brown truck. I thanked the man and ran inside to the counter. I pulled my 1660CB out of my pocket and made a few precision cuts. After pulling out the brown paper I found wrapped in the middle of the bundle a bubble wrapped piece of goodness. I again used my 1660CB to ever so carefully slice the adhesive lined tape off of the wrap. I closed my eyes and emptied the contents of the bag into my hand. I peeked with one eye between my fingers and could not believe what i had seen. Could it be, just as i imagined... ? Resting in my hand was a beautiful piece of USA made awesomeness.

It has an awesome set of G10 handles that have a RealTree Hardwoods pattern on them. I am pretty sure besides the black horse 1060C, The whirlwind 1560C, and the echo 1070c that Kershaw has not used the camo on any other g10 or polymer type handle.(They did use it on the 1660C leek and 1620C scallion aluminum handles) After seeing this i strongly believe they should! The upswept blade is better than i had immagined. It looks like it means business and also has a great tip for piercing tasks. The spine is pretty thick stock, but the blade itself is almost full flat ground. And at 3.25 inches would make a sweet edc/work knife. The clip reminds me of a standard Kershaw/ ZT clip. It is just a bit stretched out on the top and the bottom( i know i have seen it somewhere before). This is really meant to be a flipper only knife and with the A/O it makes a good one. It has what you might think are thumbstuds but are actually used as stops for the blade when resting in the handle. The only and i mean only small, tiny gripe about the packrat 1665c is the liner lock is a little bit hard to disengage if you have large digits. It is slightly lower than the front side but a nice little cut out would have been better. That being said it locks up good and hard and makes a good authoritative sound. It sounds and feels very similar to my 0350 for example. When closed it is about 4 inches long. almost exactly the same as my leek. The gunstock/humpback style handle looks different in a good way and is very ergonomical and comfortable in hand.

And one of the best parts is that it has the date stamp! Mar. 09! I really wish they would bring back the date stamp. I love finding kershaws with my birth month of April on them. That is also one of the things i enjoy about the Zt's is they are serial numbered. I have not used this yet, as I just recieved it today. I do plan on using it in the future though and know it will stand up to strong use and abuse. I strongly urge you to buy a packrat no matter the color. It is one of those knifes we did not look close enough at and because of this it is discontinued this year. It won't be long before we are moaning and groaning because we can't find them anymore.

Thank you for your generosity Thomas, and a huge thank you to all the hard workers at Kershaw. I am honored to carry such fine cutting utensils! Good luck at Blade i'm sure you won't need it though!
