On saturday 29.09 and sunday 30.09 we had the SICAC knife show in Paris. I have tried to make a lot of pictures, unfortunately my DV camecoder (as I don't have a digital photo camera) screwed up so I managed to get only the very first pictures from the tape
Here you can see Gert van den Elsen from Holland
Gert made the beutiful handles (with mokume bolster & ferule) of the wootz knives showed below. Achim Wirtz provided the Wootz blades a belgian maker (damn, I forgot his name) made the sheats. My photos suck, the knives look way better.
I had the honnor to meet Zaza Revishvili and play with his gorgeous knives. He's a very nice fellow, don't miss his table if you have the oportunity to see him at a show.
One of the knives that impressed me at this show was a Loveless design subhilt fighter with elephant bone handle, made by a japanese fellow (I forgot his name too). The grind lines on that knife are unbeliveble, the fit&finish flawless. I have seen Kressler and Schneider knives at this show too and I'm still impressed with this one.
The only purchase I made at the show was a push dagger made by Gavin Dickerson. I have ordered this knife a few months ago for my wife and Gavin sent it to me at the show. I'm very impressed with his work. For example, the bolsters are held in place by pins so well fitted that I had a hard time finding them. My wife is very proud of her knife and now carries it in her purse
The knife has a 3" random damascus blade, giraffe bone handle and stainless bolsters & pins.
The sheath is made of cow hide + ostrich, and fits the knife very well.
