Parkerizing A-2 steel....

I'm certainly no authority on parkerizing steel, but I do know that A2 gun parts are "parkerized" (manganese phosphate) all the time. The color of parkerizing is determined by the surface hardness of the base material, so parkerizing an A2 knife may be a slightly different shade a gray than a carbon steel knife. But, it can be done.

A2 Parkerizes very nicely. Just make sure that you bead or sandblast the steel before doing so.

Use Amerline available from Brownell's. You really dont need the sealer or predip blackener that they sell with it.

You can do this right on the stovetop too.

Interesting sidenote is that EARLY Busse's....back when he was making all sorts of handmades....Jerry used A2 and parkerized it.

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I was worried that hardness/chromium content might cause problems.
