Anyone have any news about the bowie, where it's at, what it looks like, has it fallen off the face of the earth?
Man this is gonna be something else!
I was thinking how crappy a project this turned out to be, taking so long and all but now I realize that this just makes the final product that much sweeter.
I mean how many knives are there out there that have had so much input from so many knife makers and taken so long to complete?
This bowie is going to be the primo knife in someone's collection someday!!!

Did I miss it? If it was finished, would someone be so kind as to direct me to the thread (I tried a "search" with no definitive results}.
Thanks,
Greg

The last I have heard it was at the sheath makers (out of the country) Jens Anso should know. L6 you should contact him.

OOps!
Jens emailed me after reading my initial post in this thread and said he has the knife and is working on the sheath when he has the time. When the sheath is finished he will send the project to Anders Johanson for scrimshanding and then someone else gets it for engraving, I forget who. Lol.

I just spent over an hour catching up on all the threads and responses that pertain to this Bowie Passaround. First I would like to say this is a brilliant idea!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is even better that you were able to get some of the best talent in the knife industry to go along with it.

Even though the thread I was reading was ALMOST 4 years ago, I was getting more and more excited as I read. Unfortunately all the pictures were no longer valid. Can someone post a pic if they still have it on there hard drive??

A few more questions. If they get answered, maybe this will be back on track

-WHERE IS IT NOW??
-What's left to do??
-Is everyone that's left still willing to complete there steps after being contacted??
-Is the raffle still a go once its complete??

Lets get this back on track. A bowie 3 years in the making. L6 it was funny reading something to this effect ¡§I am hoping it will be done in time for X-mas<-This was in 1999

I can't wait to see this knife. Everyone that has handled it needs to sign in and confirm what they have done and who they sent it to so we can find out where the snag is.

Has anyone e-mailed Anso to see if he received and still has it?? The thread that started it died off shortly after it was heat treated.

(EDITED TO ADD) Oopps, I didn't notice you confirmed that Anso has it.

Lmao Kit!!!
Thats patially why I added that word in but I also added it because it because the project was started in the second millenium and will be finished in the third millenium.
I'm sure it's not a first but there can't be that many bowie knives out there with that kind of history behind them. :)

Yep..I got it...guilty as charged......Since I signed up for it most of you know I started fulltime knifemaking...to top that of I am working two jobs now as I need a second income....its nice on sound and just waiting for a few free hours...I hope to get it done soon...sorry for the delay.

:) Just trying to piece this one together, allot of missing time since the last post I got to read in the original thread. Didn't mean to put you on the defensive :)

(Edited to add) Any chance of a pic of the knife?? All the old attachments are all invalid now

ROTFLMAO :D

BadGuy,

My wife volunteered to do the scrimshaw on this knife when it was first thought of.

I got so frustrated I told her to back out.

IMO, if people don't MAKE the time to do their part; they shouldn't volunteer.

My wife was excited about doing it way back then, but how can you stay excited for over 3 years?

The scrimshaw and engraving still has to be done.

If the people remember; this knife was supposed to be sold to benefit BFC.

BFC could have gone under by now. :D

This is my first post on this subject since I withdrew my wife's offer.

IMO, this has become a joke.

These are my last words on the subject.

Well there is another question aswered. I noticed your wifes services were offered and all a sudden someone else was supposed to do the work.

I hope no one has passed away that are involved any of the steps that are left:D

Hey, some folks go with the flow and some get flushed down the pipe.
Nothin anyone can do about it.
I told Jens to take as long as he needed to, no problem.
Same with anyone else that gets involved in the knife.
We have to consider the end project, it's gonna be amazing!

It will get done when its done. God has taught me patience. There are very few things in this world worth causing hard feelings over.

THEBADGUY, This is an interesting project and Im impressed that you picked up on it. Did You think to print the progresses (or lack of them good or bad) for a possible story? I am still under the impression It will be done someday and will attract attention even if the story reads: "Collaboration Gone Astray" it will be good reading.

BTY I did the handle "fit and finish" and Thomas R Moro "engraved the bolsters"

I think that this knife will drawn allot of attention from the knife world once its complete. I am very interested in seeing how this one turns out. Thanks for the info on some of the work done that was not included in the orignal thread :)

A couple of months ago I was gonna ask what happened to this knife...got side tracked.

I'd really like to see a pic of it!

Look at it this way... those that have been waiting three years to get to do their part on the knife have had three years practicing their skills!!:D

I know it sat with me for entirely too long. I'm still glad that no one is rushing it. When I rush, things get trashed. But that's just me.

Bad Guy,

I still have it. I'm trying wrap skateboarder's tape around the handle for something more "grippy."
