Since mqqn and Rockywolf said they would be in charge of a passaround, I think we may do two of them. Now, a couple of questions.

What models would be good choices for a passaround? (nothing big and expensive since this is all "out of pocket" for me)

What forum to post about the passarounds? ( if it`s just on my forum, what exposure would that get?) If on any other forum on BF, I would expect the two "organizers to get the moderator`s permission first.

Since this is all "out of pocket" for me, how about if the participants agree to be in a raffle for a small "ticket" price (maybe like $5) for a chance to win the knife at the end of the passaround?

Any more ideas?

I would like to see the Riverwoods Companion and the Scout Jr. in pass-arounds.

W&SS would be suitable for anyone reviewing the blades for outdoor use, and I think we could go with the Kitchen Cutlery section for those of us that mainly get kitchen duty for our knives. I would be happy to post a review on any of the other forums that I'm on, as well.

An after-pass-around raffle is an awesome idea, and I'm all for it.

How will you work us sending in the money for the raffle? I like the idea! Please let me know when you work out the details!

I should make myself clear on the raffle tickets. I don`t expect people to pay $5 to be in the passaround, only buy a ticket if they are interested in winning the knife. If not enough people are interested, there would be no raffle. I`m only trying to cover cost of materials, if they don`t get covered, no raffle.

I like the idea you got going here. I would like to see a passaround with one of your small nessmuk models. Your take on the nessie is different than most and I just really liked the pattern that you had in the shop for the get together. I would be in for the raffle as well. Good way to help you offset your cost and a chance to win a knife.

Well one knife is heading around already. A pocket fixed like my ewok, scandi, or rockywolf's choice would be a good choice, imho. Low cost, low profile, and a lot of cutting power in a small package equals big value.

Hi Stomper -

That is an interesting idea -

I think it would be cool to have a passaround where you ask people to contribute an amount toward the making of the knife.

Once the pass around is complete, then you could raffle the knife off to the participants - I see nothing wrong with the idea, and since everyone has to insure the knife when sent, and would be responsible for the knife when it is in their possession, you are protected from having to eat the cost of the knife.

I think the real payoff here is getting your work into the hands of people who might otherwise not get the chance - and then generate some sales.

I think smaller knives are a good choice here, as they show all the great workmanship and features of your knives without having to invest a lot of your money sending out your higher priced knives.

best regards -

mqqn

I'd be in for the raffle and any pass arounds you have. I really like both ideas and think they have alot of potential to get your designs out if we show them to like minded friends when it's our turn on the pass arounds. It's nice to post about your own review of use of the knife but I think it could be a good time to show friend in the area the knife first hand so they can gain some interest if fits the bill for some of them. Kind of like a guys Tupper Ware party! Just my .02

RIVERWOODS COMPANION, PACK KNIFE, OR THE BUSHPACKER SCANDI!!!!!!!!!!

I think the raffle is a great idea!

I think C Bryant nailed it. Pack Knife is a perfect "entry level" JK, and Riverwoods Companion is a good "mid price" JK. The Riverwoods is probably one of the most versatile designs I offer, plus both of these are new designs, so not many have had a chance to handle them.

Not a bad idea. One thought, the ewok has been a great seller, right? To intro more people to it might elevate it to signature knife status.

If I can get a third volunteer to be in charge of a passaround, I might be up for doing an EWOK for the third knife. ;)

Ok, ok. Who is in charge of what here? The kitchen knife is one, are you doing the other knives CB suggested?
I will volunteer to send my pocket scandi around as a passaround, no out of pocket cost for you to make one. All I ask is that whoever has it last sends it back to you for TLC (and that pocket clip sheath) before I get it back. I like it almost (notice the almost) as much as my ewok.
And no flippin batonning with a pocket knife! Just carry it around and use it for whatever you might need for the days you have it.

I`m handling the kitchen knife passaround. I figure you and mqqn would take the Riverwoods and Pack Knife. If I decide to do a EWOK, I would need a third volunteer. I would rather not have anybody pass around their personal knife.

I volunteer to oversee the EWOK, if you choose to take this assignment. :D
