Well I have posted in the past about the ignorant, biased and smallminded approach to knife ownership in the UK.

Here is the latest insanity.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4392508.stm

OK its a fair point that the shops should be applying the law correctly but surely this shouldn't trigger an outright ban on internet sales.

We are so weak

:barf:

Richard Beckett, 13, the son of a trading standards officer, told BBC News he was surprised he had effectively been able to buy age-restricted goods.
"I thought you would have to be a certain age. The delivery man should check your age.

"It worries me. Anyone could be carrying knives." :barf: :barf: :barf:

Pansy wimp with Daddy's words spouting forth based on his Mum's fears...:thumbdn:

"Ideally, firms would sign up to the Interactive Age Check scheme, which could determine someone's age within 24 hours. "

There's your motive for this article.. so the TSI can make some more money off of internet vendors being forced to pay them an annual fee to do business with in Britian. B/c I'm sure there's an epidmeic of stabbings from 13 year olds with kitchen knives bought on the internet.

The 13 year old was able to buy a saw?
Saw murders must be on the rise in Britain.

Cracking down on knife sales to teenagers will work well to keep knives out of their hands. It's not like they can go into their parents' kitchen and grab one or anything.

Everyone with an ounce of common sense needs to get out of the UK right now. Its time to drop a few nukes. :barf:

I cant believe how stupid some people are. If it was the 40's, Hitler would make short work of these fools. When did the Brits get their backbones removed? :thumbdn:

I read in Tac Knives the Brits are thinking of banning kitchen knives with points

What is a real joke is that they harped on about guns until it became so hard to get one it just isnt worth the effort. Yet weekly in the news, someone is shot and killed or severely injured and there is no mention about guns in general. They dont say that the guys that shot and killed a drug dealer outside of his local gym had sourced it illegally, they just say he was shot.

Knives are still legal, so they are fair game to hound to death. As soon as they are made illegal and someone gets stabbed there will be no mention of them anymore.

Just the loonies drawing attention to what a bunch of animals we all are and why we shouldnt be allowed to make any decisions for oursleves. I find it odd that the flower power generation with their 'its not your fault' attitude is probably responsible for more violence than they care to think about. Its odd that in my parents childhood a stabbing or shooting was very rare. Since the 60's crowd aged and got into power and education the place has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Its the culture of attacking the tool not the problem.

Surprisingly enough gun crime is on the increase here, even though its impossible to own a handgun legally and very difficult to own a rifle/ shotgun. The latest thinking I have heard on this subject from our insightful leaders is the reson for this being the ease of availability of ammo manufacturing euipment. Apparently you can buy an ammo press here without having to show a firearms license. Obviously thats the cause of our problems, I mean the bad guys arent going to buy one illegally if you ban them are they? They arent going to have one shipped over from abroad are they? I mean its not like they could slip through customs in a shipping crate is it? Or maybe they would just get on the phone to their friend who owns a milling machine/ lathe and have them make one. Or just throw a few boxes of ammo on the next drug boat that comes in.

Obviousley we need to ban the sale of the materials too, I mean if we ban selling shot they cant use the press even if they get one can they? its not like they would make a cast of an existing bullet and get some lead and a blow lamp is it? And everyone knows its impossible to make your own explosives/ propellent dont they?

Its about time people
1. accepted that you cant have a 100% safe life no matter how many laws you pass
2. accepted people WILL get hold of a weapon no matter how many laws you pass
3. accepted that people have to take some responsibility for their own lives and their own welfare and the raising of their children. I wouldnt have dared run around with a kitchen knife when I was 13 for fear of my dad, thats how it should be.
4. stopped encouraging the break up of the traditional family unit and the absolving of parental responsibility for the behaviour of children.

My personal opinion of why gun crime here is increasing is because of points 3 and 4. More and more kids get brought up in single parent families with the parents showing no responsibility for teaching the child how to behave, or even any interest in the child. They keep the kid because of state handouts. The parent gets rewarded by the state for bringing a child into the world in a situation where it isnt supported by a family and isnt vared for properly. The child doesnt get constructive attention and doesnt develop social skills. They get a knife and go and stab someone. They get older and buy a gun and go shoot someone. Surprise surprise. What? They bought a gun when guns are banned? Surprise surprise. Cocaine is banned, I could go buy some right now if I wanted.

Anyone heard 'In the Ghetto' by Elvis?!

And yes its about time I moved to another country! I dont think these problems will be solved here in the near future.

I dont know if that would be possible, the entire population of the country are unarmed and the politicians turn the police/ army on public uprisings with little hesitation. Look at the fox hunting protests, people protesting (not rioting) and the police baton-charged them.

Civil unrest happens because large portions of the population are unhappy with the country but our leaders are so power crazed and desperate to hang on to their positions they use voilence to crush it and carry on as if nothing had happened.

What the hell does it matter if fox hunting is banned or not? its hardly a major life changing, country improving law. They were just blatantly using it as a smokescreen for the problems they were having in Iraq.

Blade I feel your pain, its one of the reasons I left over 10 years ago.

Try Finland, the shooting and fishing are excellent

As for overthrowing, limited gun control was brought out in the 1920's mostly due to fears of a Russian style revolution. The goverment could see the resentment and acted on it using guns from WWI

thank God we havent gone that loony here in the US, although the powers that be want us to give up all our rights in the name of "safety". The only way i feel truly safe is when i can protect myself. I dont want the government to attempt to do it, they dont do too much correctly anyways.
They do respond within 5 minutes to clean up the mess, but they arent gonna be there when you life is endangered. Learn to take care of yourself.
"Semper Fi" to all my Marine brothers in Afghanistan and Iraq!

HE HE HE ROFLMFAO... when was the last time anyone heard of thugs walking down the street armed with... swords!!!! If that wasn't so pathetic I'd still be laughing. :foot:
