Wow, some really decent fixed blade offerings in here. I had been planning on a mora for weight savings but some of these are tempting.

Hey fellow knife knuts.I would like to claim the gec #89 that arrowhd put up if that's OK. There should be something around here that will be satisfactory to put up in return.

Been talking to him about his PIF. Asked him to post it here so that others can weigh in on it. Really not familiar with the knife being offered.

I asked if this unused Fightn Rooster and pocket slip would work? This is my first post in this thread so no hard feelings either way. Thanks.

Man, I hope so... tell me more about that guy! How are the pulls? What steel?

Pulls are around a 4 or 5 I would say. It says Frank Buster celebrated cutlery Germany.
I don't know exactly what steel and don't want to give you any wrong info.

This is a toughy. They were made in 2 ages and generally from the same manufacturer of German Eye and Bulldog brand out of Solingen (Parker)
FNR might be 2 rungs down in terms of collectibles and generally sell, not list in the RRider and Case knife price ranges. I would have to be honest and say it's not at a GEC price point but I'm not putting up that particular knife.

PS the example above is pristine so ymmv. I had a German Bull sodbuster and I greatly appreciated it but I gifted it to someone in the traditionals forum who collected soddies. Quality/ff of the solingen of the different periods ironically can be as good and...lol bad as GEC. I've had so many horrendous GEC with wide tooth gaps in the bolsters that made it out of the factory for which they should have been embarrassed about. And then some GECs like the 72 that I had was sent back for a tuneup which I would categorize as a traditional knife model hall of famer but only after the tune-up.

I'm not an expert on older traditionals, but from what I've seen the fightn' Roosters aren't as collectible as GEC's. Because that GEC #89 is highly collectible as new, and maybe still fairly valuable used, I'm not so sure. I know the blade hits the spine if you let it snap shut and I have no measure on how much that would lower the GEC. There's a new Fightn Rooster stockman on collectorknives that's about the closest thing I could compare it against and while the price tag isn't low, it's been on their website for a while.

But, used and not perfect rendition of the #89 vs a seeming good Fightn' Rooster whittler. I would think the steel is 1095, and I'm basing a lot of that info on the collectorknives link below

It's a tough one for sure, I'm going to put my money on the GEC still pulling ahead, but I'm not sure it's much. I think this is one that comes down to the details/flaws in the GEC and how much it hurts the value, if at all. I feel like GEC's are like busse's, people are willing to overlook a lot if it's the right model. I know the 89 whittler was highly sought after.

For clarification, it's up to ArrowHD to make the final call on whether the PIF is reasonable. Everyone else's opinion is just an opinion.

I claimed the lansky crock sticks from Chris Still, and am offering up an unused Lansky Variety 4 pack for the lansky sharpening kit.
Good accessories for somebody that already has the basic kit - includes a leather strop, soft arkansas, medium diamond, and a medium curved stone.

If this does come up, I have a Kabar copper bolster dog head stockman I could offer.
I'm a total sucker for a wharncliffe whittler.

Offering a steel will roamer 375 and crkt stiff kiss for bk16 from @bikerector.
The crkt stiff kiss, gerber fixed and Kershaw dune i have up would make a good fixed blade budget pack.
