Hello,

There are thousands of BF members and I bet that almost everybody bought at least one knife on-line using his/her credit card. It is fast and safe (sometimes). But when dealing with each other e.g. trading, we mostly use the traditional methods of sending money = checks, certified check or MOs. Some use PayPal - but that is not free anymore...
I am wondering why people do not use the Online Bill Pay offered by many US banks which is IMO the fastest and most convenient way how to send money. Or do they? And that is my question.... Do you use Online Bill Pay to pay for your knives when trading with others?

I never even thought of it. As if I needed another way to get rid of my money ... :p

Well it's really the vendor's choice. I've bought a few using online bill pay, but mostly using direct credit card on a secure server. How many retailers have those simple one click c/card checkout? 99% of them. How many use any other form of payment?

David,
The same idea has occurred to me: by using an online bill paying service, the purchaser gets the convenience of writing a personal check (and one guaranteed to be delivered within 5 working days, at that), while the seller doesn't have to deal with any of the potential problems associated with taking a personal check (including waiting for it to arrive). I wonder if anyone here has tried doing it this way?

Yes, exactly... I was not talking about online dealers (they offer simple CCs transactions) - but I am thinnking of all the people who trade here on the forums. They do not have to write checks or purchase MOs, they do not have to send them by mail and wait for the checks to clear and MO being deposited. Anybody can accept payment by Online Bill Pay.... So it is actually the buyers choice whether he is going to use that service.

I would say that the biggest issue would be educating sellers on how to receive the money.

I am not a regular seller so I am not aware of all the options or how to use them.

What, and have a printed record for the wife to see? :p

Seriously, hadn't considered it. Great idea!
